Apex Legends is famous for its fast-paced combat and fluid movement that delivers an exhilarating experience different from all the other Battle Royale games. The titular playable Legends bring their unique abilities to the Apex Games, and you'll eventually find the right one that clicks with you. Moreover, if you're naturally inclined to protect and enable your teammates, consider playing a Support Legend.

Whether through healing and protecting their teammates or annoying their enemies, Support Legends enable their squadmates to pop off during matches. The new Support buffs further increase the value of bringing one along in your squad — so it's a perfect time to see which from the class stands out the most.

5 Lifeline

Lifeline is one of the eight original characters in Apex Legends. As one of the Support classes, she tops her team's health with abilities utilizing her immobile combat drone. Her tactical deploys a drone that heals anyone standing near it, while her iconic passive sends her drone to revive a fallen teammate.

Unfortunately, the Combat Medic's kit struggles to keep up with the hyper-aggressive meta. Her abilities depend on her teammates to take damage to their health or remain incapacitated. What's worse is that Lifeline is often a detriment in close quarters engagements, as enemies can leech off her drone for free healing. Additionally, enemies can finish off her allies stuck in the revive animation because her unique revive disables the use of Knockdown Shields.

Lifeline excels in mid-range poke battles, especially during scenarios teams can't easily commit. During those scenarios, her passive and tactical fortifies the team and keeps them healthy to keep trading hits. Furthermore, her Care Package ensures that her team always has the advantage regarding armor and consumables.

4 Mirage

Released as part of the phased-out Offensive class, Mirage was moved to the Skirmisher class before finally settling as a Support. The vain Holographic Trickster lacks the standard defensive tools of other supports, but he makes up for it through deception and distracting mind games.

Mirage uses customized holo devices to create clones of himself to confuse and bamboozle enemies. His tactical sends a controllable decoy that tags enemies when they damage it. Mirage's ultimate ups the ante by deploying five decoys that copy his movement—extremely effective indoors as the decoys surround the room and force enemies to second guess their shots.

While Mirage is undoubtedly fun, his decoys are merely tricks that better players are equipped to handle. Mirage's saving grace is his amazing revive ability, where he turns himself and his ally invisible for a short duration.

3 Gibraltar

Gibraltar is a gentle giant who acts as the Legends protective big brother. The Shielded Fortress focuses all his attention on the power of friendship with his signature bubble that blocks all bullets. Gibraltar has always been a consistent pick in the highest levels of competitive play because of his value in creating cover out of nothing, which is extremely valuable in higher lobbies where more teams survive until the final circles.

Gibraltar can use his ultimate to lock down an area with continuous mortar bombardment. It's a flexible ability that can dissuade teams from pushing or attacking from an advantageous position. He's exceptional when your squad attempts to close distance on an enemy team with long-range weapons and cover. Additionally, Gibraltar can execute more aggressive peeks because of his passive which grants a front-facing shield.

However, if you're a bloodthirsty team who hunts for kills and plays on the edge, Gibraltar only has gunplay to contribute. Another downside is that a mistimed bubble is punishing because of its visible appearance that practically calls nearby squads to attack your team. Nonetheless, the optimistic giant is always welcome in a coordinated squad.

2 Newcastle

Don't underestimate him because of his historically low pick rate — Newcastle is one of the best Support Legends who can claim space like no other. Unlike the other Legends who create barriers, the Heroic Barrier can stay on the move with his Mobile Shield. Newcastle can redirect the shield while active, giving your team on-demand cover to fight in open areas or prevent enemies from shooting your squad while you rotate.

Activating Newcastle's ultimate, Castle Wall, makes him leap to an ally's position or anywhere within its range, including higher places, making a fortified wall upon landing. Everyone knows that his ultimate can function as a tool to save teammates, but experienced Newcastle players can also use it as an offensive tool to pressure the enemy squad. Castle Wall's generous range lets him grab a cheeky angle or force enemies off the high ground.

Finally, Newcastle's passive, Retrieve The Wounded, lets you drag allies as you revive them while protecting them with your Knockout Shield. His passive is incredible for bailing your team out of dangerous situations, like if they're knocked down in the open or during a chaotic gunfight with multiple squads. Every player makes mistakes, and Newcastle is there to ensure that no one gets sent back to the lobby because of it.

1 Loba

Apex Legends is a Battle Royale with a high-skill floor and tremendous ceiling. But, it also comes down to who has the better loot, a problem Loba is well-equipped to solve. Loba's passive, Eye For Quality, makes looting a breeze because she can spot epic and legendary loot in a wide area. In a fast-paced game where you're racing against the zone, Loba saves your team precious time with looting.

Loba's Black Market Boutique functions as a loot detector over a wide radius and allows anyone to pick items from the selection. Aside from looting efficiently, the simple ultimate has many practical functions during combat. For example, you can steal loot from other squads or prepare shields for an instant swap. The Black Market keeps your team stocked and safe during final circles since no one has to leave their position for necessary loot.

The Translocating Thief is a slippery Legend to catch because of Drive Bracelet, allowing Loba to throw and teleport to it. This ability makes Loba an excellent secondary fragger that can take off angles safely and quickly. Due to all of these reasons, it's no wonder that Loba has a dominant pick rate in higher tiers.
