Fortnite's Star Wars season is over as we say hello to Miles Morales and Spider-Man 2099, but while many are busy swinging through Mega City and summoning Spider-Ham for a cartoon mallet, others are wondering what happened with the Droid tease.

On May 8, the official Fortnite Twitter account posted, "Roger, Roger." This was in the midst of a Prequel-themed Star Wars event, in which you could earn Clone Trooper and Darth Maul skins while also getting lightsabers from Obi-Wan Kenobi and Anakin Skywalker in the battle royale itself. So, many understandably took "Roger, Roger" to be a tease for another cosmetic - Droids.

May 9 came, and then May 10, all the way to May 24, and we're still without Droids. With the Star Wars season coming to a close yesterday, VTM06_Vipes took to the subreddit to ask, "where are they?"

We probably won't get Droids during the Spider-Man event - they'd be a little out of place. That doesn't mean we'll never get them, though, as many in the comments highlight that Fortnite might be saving Droids for its next Star Wars event, whenever that may be. Perhaps instead of Clone Troopers and Darth Maul, we'll have a mini battle pass featuring B1 Droids, Battle Droids, and General Grievous. Maybe he'll be able to hold four guns at once... or not, that'd be a bit broken.

It could be next year, or there could be more Star Wars to come when the Ahsoka Disney Plus show drops this August. It's set after Return of the Jedi and before the sequel trilogy, but if it features flashbacks like Kenobi, it could be a segway for another Clone Wars event. Whatever the case, I doubt Fortnite and Star Wars are done collaborating just yet, so while we didn't get Droids this time, despite a very obvious wink-and-nudge tease, they'll probably be here soon enough.

Spider-Man 2099 from Across the Spider-Verse grabbing his own ass in Fortnite

In the meantime, Spider-Man 2099 and Miles Morales' Spider-Man are available in the item store, while web shooters have made their long-awaited return. You can find them scattered around the map as with any other loot item. There are also quests tied to the web shooters, so there are plenty of excuses to dive into Mega City for a swing or two. And you can easily spot 2099 from a mile away because he is clearly the most caked-up skin to date.

Ahsoka drops in August, and after that, we have Andor's second season, The Acolyte, and Skeleton Crew to come in 2024. Maybe this time next year we'll be celebrating Star Wars with some High Republic skins.
