LunarCon, Final Fantasy 14’s biggest fan-made event, is returning later this year from September 29 until October 1. Last year was the biggest, most jam-packed, and full of excitement the event has ever been, so why not ensure this year ups the ante even further by getting involved yourself? LunarCon covers a wealth of competitions, performances, and venues, so there’s plenty to get stuck into.

Like every good convention, LunarCon will be hosting various panels. Last year, we were wowed by ones about fishing, lore, accessibility, and so much more, ensuring there was a talk for every type of player. If you’ve got something to share with the world of Eorzea, why not sign up to be a panelist? Applications close on August 1, so don’t forget to check out the requirements and apply.

LunarCon is also looking for housing plots based on North American Data Centers that they can use for the weekend, which will act as a convention space for attendees to hang out, attend panels, and do other things. Whether you’ve got an RP venue that you normally use all year around, or you’re just willing to let LunarCon take over your FC house for a few days, you can help make this year’s event something to remember. Once again, sign-ups close on August 1.

There are plenty of other ways to get involved, especially for those who like to get creative. LunarCon is accepting applicants for the Artist Alley and will be choosing vetted participants via a lottery-based system. Applications close on July 1, so be sure to apply before then.

The team is also on the lookout for Main Stage performers, such as DJ sets, dance shows, or comedy skits, which you can apply to get a slot for here . Applications for these also close on July 1.

The fun has already begun, with LunarCon already opening up a range of contests for players to enter, all of which will close on September 1. If you fancy trying to create an awesome Game Music Video using any of FF14’s superb tracks, why not give it your best shot? If you want to try a different type of video content, there’s also the Machinima Contest.

This year’s Housing Contest theme is ‘Light vs. Dark’ and focuses on apartments, so give your apartment a suitable makeover and show off your design skills in style. For the Art Contest, the theme is ‘Journey’, which is open to interpretation, so show everyone what this theme means to you and your Warrior of Light.

Final Fantasy 14 LunarCon - players in Attack on Titan Cosplay

And, of course, one of my personal favourites, the Cosplay Contest is returning! Get out your best glamours and strut your stuff as different characters, whether that’s anime, gaming, celebrities, or something else. We all love to see the creative ways players cosplay using the limitations of the available gear and dye in game, so show us what you’re made of.

With so many competitions lined up, the team is also looking for anyone willing to donate to the pool of prizes. Applications for prize contributions will close on September 1. There’s still lots to be unveiled about LunarCon 2023, so keep up to date with what’s happening via Twitter, the official website, or the Discord server.
