Overwatch 2's yearly Pride event is set to begin next month, and Blizzard has already begun getting players nice and ready by outlining exactly what they can expect from next month's update. Alongside in-game gifts such as Player Icons and Name Cards, Blizzard has given Pharah x Mercy shippers the greatest gift of all - the confirmation that Pharah is a lesbian.

In a new short story titled "As You Are", both Pharah and Baptiste are having a conversation in the cockpit of a dropship after Cassidy heads off for some shuteye. In an attempt to break the awkward silence, Baptiste asks Pharah if there's anything going on between the two, which gets a big laugh out of her. She then explains that she feels like Cassidy is more of a brother to her and that she's actually a lesbian.

"No, definitely not," says Pharah. "Cole and I have known each other for a long time. He's like a brother to me. And besides, I'm a lesbian."

Not only that, but this short story also provides Pharah with a potential romantic interest in Mercy. Shortly after revealing her sexuality, Pharah and Baptiste find themselves on the topic of Mercy and whether Pharah knows her. She explains that she's known Mercy for as long as she's known Cassidy, but the story makes repeated comments about the way Pharah says Mercy's name, and Baptiste senses that there's "more going on" between the two than we know.

We also get a vague hint at Baptiste's sexuality in the story too, as he explains to Pharah that Cassidy has "a certain charm" and that he "likes a person who's sure of themself". It was recently confirmed in a conference involving Overwatch 2 game director Aaron Keller and senior narrative designer Jen Stacy that Baptiste is bisexual, and he is naturally very flirty with almost everyone in the actual game, though it's yet to be confirmed in any official Overwatch 2 media.

As for Overwatch 2's Pride event itself, that kicks off on June 1, and will see a couple of maps receive some minor changes to celebrate the month. For starters, Midtown will be tweaked slightly to feature a rainbow crosswalk and other Pride-themed changes, while Watchpoint: Gibraltar will soon feature a new photo of Tracer and her partner Emily, which will also be available as a spray.
