Nothing beats a summer trip to the beach. The breeze in your hair, the sound of the ocean, and the general sense of calm create a favorite activity for many. What if you could bring some Pokemon companions along with you? That would make your trip to the beach even better.

The Pokemon universe is filled with beaches and creatures that could make a day in the sand a lot of fun. From relaxation to catching a wave or two, there's a Pokemon for you. Summon them from their Poke Ball at the beach and spend some time in the sun.

10 Snorlax

Snorlax holds its belly and yawns in Pokemon.

Snorlax is a massive, and oftentimes lazy, Pokemon. That makes him the perfect partner to take to the beach. If you want a Pokemon to soak up the sun with, there's no better choice.

You could also set up a picnic on the beach. Snorlax has a mighty appetite. It would have no problem devouring whatever meal you bring.

9 Lapras

Lapras howls as it floats on the water in Pokemon.

Lapras is one of the original Water-type Pokemon from the Kanto region. It resembles the Loch Ness Monster, but has a shell on its back. This is one Pokemon you'd want to take to the beach if you plan on hitting the water.

One of Lapras' specialties is carrying riders on its back. If it is just you, you'll have plenty of space to lay out. Go for a cruise in the ocean on your Lapras and you'll find nothing but peace.

8 Slowpoke

Multiple Slowpoke gather around in Pokemon.

Slowpoke evolves into Slowbro when a Shellder bites onto its tail. So, you could bring one along to evolve it if a Shellder is swimming near the shore. Or you could use its tail in hopes of other Pokemon latching on. Call it fishing.

Just place the Slowpoke on a pier or a bit far out into the water. Sit back and wait for it to catch something on its tail. Who knows, your trip to the beach could end with an evolution or with a new Pokemon to add to your collection.

7 Vaporeon

Vaporeon jumps out of the water in Pokemon.

Vaporeon is the evolution of Eevee once you've exposed it to a Water Stone. It is one of the most popular Pokemon ever and would make for a great beach companion. It could cool you down or drag you along the coast for a swim.

If you raise your Eevee to be kind and fun-loving, then your Vaporeon will have a blast on the beach. This is a Water-type that thrives in this kind of location. It would ensure a plain and simple good time.

6 Popplio

Popplio smiles as it leaps into the air in Pokemon.

Popplio would be a blast to take to the beach. This circus sea lion type of Pokemon will keep you active on the beach. Set up a net and let it use its nose to send a volleyball back and forth. Or give it a beach ball to do some entertaining tricks.

If Popplio wants to spend time in the water, that's fine too. It can swim up to 25 mph and use its flippers to splash about. A splash fight in the shallow of the ocean is too good to pass up with this cute Water-type.

5 Squirtle

Squirtle is in a defensive stance on sand in Pokemon.

Squirtle is arguably the most adorable Pokemon of all time. From the games to the anime, it has grown a large fan base of trainers. The small turtle has shown its water-spewing abilities and is also known to be a bit of a troublemaker.

Depending on how you raise your Squirtle, you could play some fun water games or clear out an area of the beach to take all for yourself. Water Gun and Rapid Spin are the moves to get either of those jobs done for you.

4 Exeggutor

Exeggutor smiles and runs foward in Pokemon.

Exeggutor resembles a palm tree. It isn't a Water-type like many other Pokemon that would be great beachgoers, but it has its own purpose. Not only does its appearance fit in with the environment, but it makes for great shade.

The scorching sun can be quite an issue during a trip to the beach. Bring Exeggutor along, as it likes to loaf around at times. Let it take a seat and lean yourself against it with a book or for a simple rest. You'll have no sunburn to worry about.

3 Diglett

Diglett emerges from the ground with flushed cheeks in Pokemon.

People go to the beach for a lot of different reasons. Not everyone wants to swim and not everyone wants to feel the sand between their toes. Some beach patrons bring along their metal detectors and hunt for treasure. That's where Diglett comes in.

Diglett, as its name implies, is great at digging. It resides in the ground already, so grab your metal detector and use your Digglet to gather the goods. Once it beeps, send Diglett under the sand to see what you've found. You won't have to expend your energy by digging it up yourself.

2 Alolan Raichu

Alolan Raichu holds a stack of pancakes while floating on its tail in Pokemon.

A Kantonian Raichu would be a terrible choice of Pokemon to take to the beach. The Alolan variant, however, is perfect. It is already accustomed to where the sea meets the shore, and it has a built-in surfboard in the form of its tail.

If you are at the beach to conquer some waves, Alolan Raichu will be your best friend. Paddle out with your Pokemon partner and wait for a huge swell to kick up. With Alolan Raichu, you'll have the time of your lives surfing together.

1 Palossand

Palossand grows giant and roars on the beach in Pokemon.

Palossand's Pokedex designation is literally the Sand Castle Pokemon. There's no better Pokemon to take to the beach than an actual sand castle. If you enjoy building sandcastles or want to be a bit mischievous to others in the area, Palossand is the way to go.

It is a Ghost/Ground-type Pokemon. The Ghost side might see it slink through the sand and jump-scare some surprised folk. Otherwise, you can see what various sand castle designs it can create from its own body.
