Call The Cavalry

Dead Island 2, The Invigorating skill card

Once you have finished the Bel-Air Brawl quest, you will be pointed in the direction of the Halperin Hotel. However, before you set out, make sure you go upstairs and clear out Emma’s room. Here you will find the Invigorator skill card here. This is among the best skill cards in the game, as it heals you every time you land a Counter Attack.

Dead Island 2, Starting the Death of the Party quest

Now, leave via the basement door. Jump over the door driveway door and head toward the marker. A little down the street there will be a fork in the road. If you take a right, you can talk to Curtis through the intercom. You will need to clear out the zombies first before Curtis will talk to you. This will start the “Death of the Party” side quest. It isn't a bad idea to do this, as it opens up Curtis' house to you, which is a handy shortcut, it is also filled with resources to loot.

Dead Island 2, Entering the GOAT house from the roof

If you follow the marker, you will end up at the mansion of GOAT, which appears to be a content creator house of some sort. You can enter the house by coming in through the open skylight on the roof. Once inside, work your way down and through the mansion. There are plenty of goodies strewn about, but none of the best stuff is accessible at this point. So, don't kill yourself looking for keys to the safe or the bedroom. If you exit through the side door near the driveway at the back of the GOAT mansion, there will be an area to your left that requires a fuse.

Dead Island 2, The giant sink hole filled with zombies

From here, it is pretty much a straight shot, and you will leave Bel Air. You will now be on your way to the Halperin Hotel. However, before you get there, you will encounter a giant sinkhole filled with zombies. Throw something at that giant fuel truck to quickly take them out. You will then hit the hotel’s perimeter. This area is littered with zombies. You won’t be able to fully clear this area, as a steady stream of zombies will constantly be on your butt. So, loot the surrounding area quickly, and then move into the hotel.

Dead Island 2, Stabbing the Riot Gear Zombie in the head

On your way to the entrance, you will encounter a whole new type of zombie: the Riot Gear zombie. Their whole thing is that their bodies can't be damaged until you work your way through their armor. This one won't be wearing a helmet, and you should be aiming for the head anyway; so this zombie is just reinforcing best practices. However, you will eventually run into zombies with helmets. For them, look to hit limbs that aren't armored, if they are fully armored, just repeatedly hit them until you have a weak point to attack (don't worry, there aren't many fully-armored Riot Gear zombies).

Dead Island 2, The reinforced ballroom door of the Halperin Hotel

Once you get to the front entrance, yank the crowbar from the door handle, and prepare to fight a huge wave of zombies. Once you clear them, head straight to the locked set of doors, and you will trigger a conversation with the deranged military major inhabiting the Halperin Hotel. This will conclude the Call The Cavalry quest.

Room Service For Major Brooker

Dead Island 2, Entering into the patio area of the Halperin

Before you leave the lobby, grab the Safety Deposit Key #09. It is sitting on the table in the center of the room. From here, head out the side door, and into an area littered with body bags. Hook around and head to the right side.

Dead Island 2, Kicking a zombie into the caustic pool

The outdoor area will take you to the pool. You now need to scope out three things. The Chemical barrels near the pool, the hoses leading to the sewer, and the generator. Once you do this, you will be bombarded by a huge army of the undead.

You can kick zombies into the pool of toxic chemicals for some easy kills. Though the zombies wearing a hazard suit are resistant to the caustic effect, so you are better off killing them the regular way.

Dead Island 2, Fighting off the zombies at the pool

Once you kill all the zombies, the previously locked gate will now be open, and you can work your way into the hotel. There is also a weapon bench in the pool building. So, take advantage of that before you leave.

Dead Island 2, The electricution trap in front of the hotel side door

As you approach the side entrance into the hotel, you will catch a glimpse of a new zombie who will get caught in the electrocution trap and then explode. Turn off the generator in front of the door. Work your way up the stairs, and you will just be one floor away from the major.

Dead Island 2, Fighting the Grenadier zombie

You will now encounter that new zombie type up close and personal: the Grenadier zombie. They have a tendency to explode once you make contact with their grenade-laden vest, so make sure to get your distance if the warning sign pops up above their head.

Dead Island 2, Finding the Chem Bomb Curveball on the ground

Once you get to the elevator, press the button, and you will, unsurprisingly, release a bunch of zombies. However, it is worth it, as there is another safety box key inside. Crawl under the obstruction. You will find a Curve Ball item here: the Chem Bomb. Use the Chem bomb to put out the fire. Check the nearby hotel room, safe-deposit key 14 is in the corner.

Dead Island 2, The janitor's closet

Continue forward and around the fire. You will shuffle through a few more hotel rooms (loot them, of course). Once you get to the elevators, one of them is open, but being blocked by electricity. To your right is a utility room. In here you will have a ton of materials to loot as well as a set of blueprints on the shop bench for the “Uncommon Melee Impactor Mod”. There is also a weapon locker in here, so make use of that.

Dead Island 2, Opening up the shortcut

Now, pull the switch on the wall to cut the electricity. However, before you continue forward, go out the side door, travel down the stairs, and unlock the door to the outside. This is a nice little shortcut. Head back and make your way back to the elevator, hop in, and climb up to the third floor.

Dead Island 2, Climing into the vent up above

Once here, take out the Grenadier zombie, then, work your way through the debris (you’ll have to smash some boards), and into the hotel room. Above the bed, you will see that there is a hatch leading to the vents. Climb in. Once crawling through the vent, follow the wall. Do this, and you will find Safety Deposit Key #49.

Now, follow the marker through the vents, jump down, and you will be in a hotel room with a handful of zombies (be careful, one of them is a Grenadier). Check one of the nearby bathrooms and grab the Hot Feet data log. There is also a military axe in the red container. Once you get to room 307, make sure to head into the bathroom and get Safety Deposit Key #53

Dead Island 2, Pouring water onto the ground to help create a circuit

The next room over you will find the Major’s body. Grab her keys and head toward the elevator shafts. Once you are here, use the nearby jerrycans to pour water between the severed power cables. This will complete the circuit and open the elevator doors for you.

You can jump up and grab resources from the catwalk surrounding the elevator. There is a lot of good stuff up here.

Dead Island 2, Climbing around the elevator shaft

From inside the elevator open the doors, and you will now be back on the first floor. Jump down into the other shaft, and grab the baton from the red chest. Head back to the lobby, use all your keys to unlock all the safety deposit boxes (you should have all the keys) and then, head into the ballroom. You will now face off against your first boss: Becky The Bride

Boss Fight: Becky The Bride

Dead Island 2, Becky The Bride makes her entrance

While Becky The Bride is quite intimidating there are three keys to beating her soundly. The first is that your defensive mechanic still works here. That means that a well-timed dodge or block will lock the bride in place, leaving her open to a number of hits.

Dead Island 2, Becky being stunned from a well-timed dodge

Secondly, she has a ground-pound attack. However, you can jump as she slams her fists into the ground and completely avoid its effects. Best of all, it still hits the enemies around her, effectively clearing out an opportunity for you to whale on her. Lastly, and quite possibly most importantly, you need to pick the right weapon. You don’t want heavy weapons here, as the weight of your attacks aren’t going to do anything to The Bride. So, use your very lightest weapons. If they have the bleed effect, that is even better. We recommend using knives here.

Dead Island 2, Becky using her ground slam attack

As the battle progresses, more zombies will flood the area. When they start to pile up, use the bride’s ground slam attack as an opportunity to clear out zombies as they are staggered. Once you finish off the bride, you will conclude the Room Service For Major Brooker quest.

The Chosen One

Dead Island 2, Leaving the Hotel area through the recently opened barricade

Now all you need to do is head back to Emma's place and try to convince her to come with you. Leave the Halperin Hotel, and take a left at the front entrance. A barricade that had been here previously will now be gone. From here you can head straight back the way you came. However, be warned, there is a new zombie variant (The Crusher) that you will encounter. They have the same moveset as Becky, but they aren’t nearly as resilient.

Dead Island 2, Amanda on the top of the GOAT house

Once you get back to the GOAT house, you will see another new zombie type: The Swarmer. These zombies are able to send a swarm of insects your way. Strafe around them, and then cut ‘em up. Attack the hive attached to their side. It is a weak point. On the roof of the GOAT house, you will find Amanda. This is your chance to engage in a quick side quest.

Dead Island 2, Talking to Emma to end the quest

Now, just head back to Emma's house, and you will be in the clear. Talk to the starlet and you will finish The Chosen One quest.
