The Force Unleashed ranks as one of the best Star Wars games ever. It's not perfect, but it provides an exciting, action-packed adventure with a brilliant story. Yet, that story wouldn't be nearly as engaging if it wasn't for the title's amazing cast of characters. While some have appeared in the franchise previously, most are new faces.

From wise Jedis to powerful Sith to comical droids, the game has the same type of major players you expect to see in a Star Wars story. However, while they might be similar to characters the franchise has produced before, they all have things that make them unique. These are the best ones.

7 The Emperor

The Emperor is one of the most important characters in the entire Star Wars franchise. In The Force Unleashed, he plays a similar role to what he does in the movies, as he's an evil presence that's watching over everything, even when he's not on screen.

His personality is also the same as the villain is his typically cruel and terrifying self. And as always, he has his subordinates do his bidding, but he does occasionally unleash his signature force lightning, too.

6 Maris Brood

Shaak Ti's Padawan, Maris Brood, serves as an interesting contrast to the protagonist. When you first meet her, she is a seemingly noble - if a little impulsive - person, but she's a lot more villainous later in the game.

Her change in character is due in part to the passing of Shaak Ti as the young woman begins to feel abandoned and submits to the power of the dark side. But it seems her fear of death also contributes to her downfall. The transformation makes her a fascinating character despite her limited screen time.

5 Darth Vader

One of the main selling points of The Force Unleashed is the inclusion of Darth Vader. After all, he is perhaps the most iconic character in Star Wars history. And it's interesting to see him in the game as his time between the prequels and the originals isn't well-documented in other Star Wars media - albeit, this game isn't technically canon.

The time period doesn't alter Vader's personality as he is the same man in this game as in the original movies. The Sith lord is powerful, merciless, and scary. Yet, the title does provide a compelling look at his relationship with The Emporer. While Vader still lives under his rule, he's clearly not entirely happy with his master, which serves as a foreshadowing for his actions in Return Of The Jedi.

4 Juno Eclipse

Unlike Luke and Anakin, Starkiller isn't known for his flying abilities. So, for his mission, he needed a pilot. Juno Eclipse fills that role admirably throughout the adventure, but her usefulness to the plot stretches beyond her ability to control a ship.

During the early stages of the game, she serves as Starkiller's only positive moral influence. After all, despite being a member of the imperial navy, she is a good person. Without her, the protagonist may have never changed his ways. So, while it would've been nice to see her get her own arc outside of Starkiller, she plays an important role, nonetheless.

3 Proxy

Droids are always one of the most entertaining parts of any Star Wars story. In TFU, the main mechanical friend is Proxy. He is a holodroid, meaning he can change his appearance at will. His mission in the game is simple as he's programmed to help train Starkiller. He does so by trying to kill the protagonist at every opportunity.

So, the two share a strange relationship, especially because when he isn't attempting to murder him, Proxy is fiercely loyal to Starkiller. The duo's rapport provides some laughs, which is why Proxy is an enjoyable companion to have around. In fact, the comic relief he brings is the main reason he's in the game.

2 Starkiller (AKA Galen Marek)

The words "Darth Vader's apprentice" are always going to grab the attention of Star Wars fans. But the appeal of Starkiller goes beyond his relationship with the iconic villain. He's a likable character who has an engaging arc that sees him go from a villain to a hero. It's a unique tale because Star Wars protagonists usually start on the light side of the force and get tempted by the dark. Yet, for Starkiller, it's the other way around as he's tempted to do good, even though Vader pushed him towards the dark side.

His master also clearly trained him to be an incredible force-wielder, as Starkiller is one of the rare individuals to be arguably stronger than Yoda. This overwhelming power is another reason the character is so great, as who doesn't love seeing him rip through countless stormtroopers?

1 Rahm Kota

Jedis are always intriguing just based on the fact they're Jedis. However, Kota is more compelling than the average force-wielder. After a battle with Starkiller leaves him blinded, the guy falls apart. He loses his confidence and spends time drowning his sorrows in a bar. Once he links back up with Starkiller, though, he starts his road to recovery.

This arc serves as an entertaining subplot throughout the story. And it makes Kota more original than he could've been. After all, he could've been the typical wise old mentor seen in countless Star Wars media. It's nice to see the developers do something different.
