Whether it be Al Mazrah, Ashika Island, or the chaotic brutality of Shoot House, operators have their work cut out for them in the wild PvP world of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2. For those looking to stay for the long haul, there are countless challenges available that give players the opportunity to earn accolades to boast of their Call of Duty prowess.
Ending your enemies sometimes just isn't enough. Executing your opponents with style and a cheeky "got ya" nod just to rub it in is all that will really suffice. As luck would have it, Modern Warfare has several calling cards and accolades that can be earned by executing your opponents with finishing moves.
How To Unlock Finishing Moves
Finishing moves typically come paired with operators. The game will come with several finishing moves built-in that become available as you unlock operators by completing the challenges associated with each of them. There are two other ways to obtain new finishing moves that will require you to make additional purchases beyond the base game:
- Unlock Finishing Moves available through each seasonal Battle Pass. This will, of course, require you to purchase the Battle Pass. There are typically two to four Finishing Moves available each season that are paired with operators or operator skins.
- Purchasing Operator Bundles from the Store will also grant you new Finishing Moves. You will see the contents of all Operator Bundles in the store, so you will know exactly what Finishing Moves you will acquire with each purchase.
Assigning Finishing Moves
In order to assign a specific Finishing Move to your operator, you will have to do so in the Operator select menu. When at this screen, press the button indicated at the bottom of your screen to customize your chosen Operator. This will then bring you to a screen where you can select a specific skin (if available) and also the Finishing Move you wish to use.
Here you can see all the Finishing Moves in the entire game. But you can, of course, only equip the ones you've unlocked. If there is one that you want, you can hover over it to see which operator pack it can be obtained from.
Don't mistake assigning the Finishing Move for a loadout option. Unfortunately, you can't change the move on a whim with each loadout. The assignment is specific to your operator and can only be changed outside a match.
Executing Finishing Moves
Performing a Finishing Move might seem simple enough. The hardest task is simply managing to sneak up behind an enemy. You must be directly behind an enemy while holding down the melee button (typically V for keyboard and R3 for controller). That's all there is to it.
You might also be intrigued to know that each Finishing Move has multiple animations depending on whether the enemy player is standing, crouched, or prone. So, have at it Operators - show your enemies who's boss.
