How Many Endings Are In The Game?

Your choices in the game impact the following things:

  • Who Aiden Leaves The City With
  • Who Takes Control Of Villedor

While there is a bit of a link between them, the two outcomes are mostly separate.

There are three possible people for Aiden to leave with. And there are three possible groups that can end up in control of Villedor.

The Choices That Matter

Dying Light 2 Colonel Williams

There are a bunch of decisions you make that impact the conclusion you receive. They are as follows:

  • Kill Or Spare Hakon In Old Villedor
  • Give The Radio Tower To Frank, Jack Matt, Or Juan
  • Go For The Truck Or Help Frank In Breakthrough
  • Trust Colonel Williams Or Jack Matt In Now Or Never
  • Kill, Let Lawan Kill, Or Spare Hakon In No Mercy
  • Save Lawan Or Let Her Detonate The Bombs In X13

Aiden Leaving Endings

At the end of the game, Aiden will always leave Villedor, but your choices impact who he departs with.

These are the possibilities:

Lawan Ending (Best Ending)

Dying Light 2 Lawan and Aiden.

It's possible to leave Villedor alongside Lawan, which is generally considered the best ending. This is how you get it:

  • Spare Hakon In Old Villedor
  • Give The Radio Tower To Frank
  • Save Frank In Breakthrough
  • Spare Hakon And Stop Lawan From Killing Him In No Mercy
  • Let Lawan Detonate The Bombs In X13

By making these decisions, Lawan will save the city, but she won't have to sacrifice herself to do it since Hakon will rescue her. Plus, with Frank alive, she'll be willing to leave with you.

Hakon Ending

Dying Light 2 Aiden Leaving with Hakon

If you're a fan of the controversial Hakon, you can leave with him at the end of the game. Here is how to do it:

  • Spare Hakon Both Times, And Don't Let Lawan Kill Him
  • Save Lawan In X13

These choices will lead to the destruction of the city, which likely leads to Lawan not leaving with you. But Hakon doesn't have the same problem, as he happily hits the road with you.

Aiden Alone Ending

You don't need to leave Villedor with another person. You can simply head back out on the road alone. This is one way you can accomplish that:

  • Let Hakon Die
  • Let Lawan Detonate The Bombs In X13

With Hakon and Lawan both dead, you will have no option but to leave the city alone.

Control Of Villedor Endings

Dying Light 2: An Ariel View Of Villedor

If you let Lawan detonate the bombs in X13, a group will control Villedor at the end of the game. These are the possible outcomes:

Survivor Ending

Dying Light 2 Survivors Control of the city.

In this ending, the survivor group takes control of the city. These are the choices you need to make to make that happen:

  • Give Frank The Radio Tower
  • Save Frank In Breakthrough
  • Believe The Colonel Over Jack Matt In Now Or Never

In this scenario, Frank serves as the leader of the city.

Peacekeeper Ending

Dying Light 2 Peacekeepers Control of the city.

It's possible for the Peacekeepers to take over the city. This is how that can occur:

  • Give Jack Matt The Radio Tower - need to side with him over Juan for this to be an option
  • Believe Jack Matt Over The Colonel In Now Or Never

Frank dies in this scenario, and Jack Matt leads the Peacekeepers to control the city.

Juan Ending

Dying Light 2 - Juan Rainer

This is a dark ending where Juan is in control of the city. These are the actions you need to take to unlock it:

  • Side With Juan Over Jack Matt
  • Give Juan The Radio Tower

He can rule the place with Colonel Williams if you choose the Colonel over Jack Matt. Either way, the city belongs to Juan, and Frank dies.
