Quick Links

A major part of the gameplay in Assassin's Creed Valhalla is the combat, and one of the weapons many players choose to wield is the spear, and they only use the best. It is a two-handed weapon, but it is capable of performing quick jabs at an opponent. The spear is the fastest in this class and it is a good in-between for those who want a more balanced weapon.

There are several spears in the game, and not all are created equal. They each come with perks and varying stats that make some better than others. It is important to keep in mind that the stats will differ based on your skill tree and what you have chosen to unlock, but these can always be adjusted if you decide the spear is your weapon of choice!

Updated May 29, 2023 by Stephen LaGioia: Ubisoft had continually been updating Assassin's Creed Valhalla all the way until early 2023, adding to the already vast amount of content. There have been free updates and several large pieces of DLC, with the most notable being the quasi-stand-alone Dawn of Ragnarok. This compelling new content has added even more missions to the game, as well as plenty of new weapons and other goodies. And with so many potent spears populating the huge lineup of weapons, we thought it was time to throw in even more of the strongest, most useful spears in Valhalla.

Golden Ray

AC Valhalla Golden Ray spear inventory stats screen

Rumored to be spawned by a beam of life that reached the depths of a dwarven blacksmith's shop, this spear is truly the stuff of myth. Part of the Radiant Weapon Pack — purchasable for 1,000 Helix Credits — this spear is a worthwhile investment for many.

This is really one of the gold standards when it comes to potent spears. Not only does this weapon look sleek as ever, but it lives up to its appearance with sky-high stats in almost every area. Not only this, but landing a special attack will trigger a light beam that will burn its target.

Striking Bolt

AC Valhalla Lightning Bolt Spear swung at opponent in battle

As its name implies, this shockingly strong spear was spawned by way of a lightning bolt. Eivor is somehow able to hold this electric-charged weapon without harm, though their targets are not so lucky. In keeping with its theme, the Striking Bolt has immense stunning power as well as attack.

As a nice bonus, the Bolt bumps up the already high critical chances when fighting. It's at its best with short-burst battles, as this bonus goes down the longer Eivor is engaged. But it's a small price to pay. To obtain it, you'll need to invest in the Raging Storm Pack for 1,000 Helix Credits.

Carolingian Pike

AC Valhalla Carolingian Pike held in snowy landscape close up

Originally, you could get the Carolingian Pike and the rest of the Carolingian Dynasty Gear Pack for free through Amazon Prime Gaming. Now, you can buy the collection using Helix points. Whether or not the weapon is worth your hard-earned points is up to you. However, the spear is a useful tool to have.

It doesn't excel in just one particular area, as it's a well-rounded weapon. And the highest stat will depend on your own build. The pike has a useful perk for flashier fighters, too, as your ability damage increases when you dodge.

Lugh Spear

Assassin's Creed Valhalla Screenshot Of Lugh's Spear Stats

You can acquire the Lugh Spear during the River Raids quests from the Glennacally Fortress. And if you're looking for a useful spear, it's worth picking up. Overall, the tool is a jack-of-all-trades type as it isn't too weak in any area.

However, that doesn't mean it lacks standout stats. For instance, its stun and critical chance attributes are impressive. You also can't overlook the spear's perk, either. With it, your weapon will ignite when you stun somebody, giving you the chance to set people on fire. This is great for crowd control as it can disrupt and damage many enemies over time.

Bannerman’s Spear

The Bannerman's Spear can be bought in the store or at Reda's Shop if you happen to look when it passes through. It has a unique design, but the high attack damage is why so many players choose to buy this weapon.

It even comes with a perk that increases your attack when you pair this weapon with a shield, which is a commonly-used fighting style. It's a great disruptor as well, with its highly impressive stun stat.

Areadbhair

Areadbhair in Assassin's Creed Valhalla

If you are looking at Reda's Shop you might come across the Areadbhair Spear, otherwise, you will have to buy it from the store with Helix Credits. Its speed is fairly average, but between its perk and damage, there is no reason you won't want to buy this weapon.

While it may not be the fastest spear, its perk increases speed after each hit, allowing you to swiftly win many fights and overwhelm opponents. It's even more helpful that this ability stacks quite a bit, making you increasingly more effective as you spam this spear.

Byzantine Spear

Byzantine Spear in Assassin's Creed Valhalla

While this Spear might not appear amazing at first, there is more than what meets the eye. It starts as a Superior Spear, meaning it has room to be upgraded, and it can be acquired during Wrath of the Druids at Azar's Trading Store once Dublin reaches a Reputation Rank 4.

It is great for players who choose to use a lighter build as its perk increases critical chance the lighter you are. You can also use some runes to make yourself even lighter so you can really make the most of this weapon's power.

Fafnir's Fang

AC Valhalla Fafnir's Fang held forward by Eivor close up on snowy cliff

One of the first Lost Drengrs you will come across is a man named Erik Loyalskull in Rygajfylke, Norway. He is located in a cave at Hildesvini's Crag, which is at the top of the waterfalls near where a woman wants you to find her comb.

Fafnir's Fang might seem like a great weapon to have early on in the game, but this is a hard fight to win at a low level. However, it's not impossible and those truly determined will be able to best him despite the odds.

Fafnir's Fang is fairly balanced and its perk makes it perfect for the beginning of the game. It will increase your critical chance when surrounded by three or more enemies, and you will need all the help during the early parts of the game.

Fyrd Spear

Fyrd Spear in Assassin's Creed Valhalla

The Fyrd Spear can be found in the southwest corner of Ledecestrescire, and it is very close to Ravensthorpe. It can be acquired at a place called Offchurch, but it won't be unlocked until the questline where you are tasked with finding King Burgred's hideout. You will just have to head down into the crypt and find your way to the furthest room in order to acquire this weapon.

It is a bit better than Fafnir's Fang, although most choose to use this weapon because of its perk. It will increase your speed when dodging an attack, which is always useful when using a two-handed weapon. It can help Eivor be more versatile, being more evasive while also being a powerful brawler.

Anentaks Spear

Anentaks Spear in Assassin's Creed Valhalla

The Anentaks Spear can be acquired in Vinland, but this is also the only location where it can be used. It will cost you two carbon ingots, 65 leather, and 105 iron ore if you want to buy it from the local trader. This is just one of the many rewarding things you can do in Vinland.

Its stats are similar to that of Odin's Spear so it is a shame you are not able to bring this back to England with you. The Anentaks Spear even has a perk that increases your heavy damage when dodging, making Eivor a powerhouse that can also outlast foes in battle.

Cadfarch Spear

Cadfarch Spear in Assassin's Creed Valhalla

Sciropescire is where the Cadfarch Spear can be found and it is given to Eivor following the completion of the main quest called Bloody Path to Peace. This is a bit further into the main story so you will have to wait to acquire this beauty, but Valhalla does make up for this fact by starting this spear at a superior level.

The perk is very useful as it increases the back damage you deal when dodging. The Cadfarch Spear is a great weapon to opt for if you want to make an evasive, powerful character as it is one of the best weapons in the game.

Svipul

Svipul in Assassin's Creed Valhalla

This spear cannot be found in the game and is one of the many microtransactions that players can make. It can be acquired by buying the Valkyrie Pack which will cost you 2,000 Helix Credits. This is equal to about $20 and it is probably worth it if you choose to use a spear as your main weapon. This pack also includes a full armor set, a shield, and a new mount, all of which can help you defeat legendary animals.

The perk associated with this spear is that it will increase back damage when at low health, but its look is why so many people choose to buy it. This weapon is beautiful as you twirl it around with flames following its path, and it is already at its highest tier which is just another attribute that makes players want to buy it.

Gungnir (Odin's Spear)

Gungnir in Assassin's Creed Valhalla

The Gungnir, also known as Odin's Spear, is located in Hordafylke, Norway and it is a Mythical Spear. It is not available for use until you complete the entire main storyline and then you must take a side quest called A Brother’s Keeper. Once you have completed this, and A Quiet Homecoming, then you can fetch the spear from a cave near a location called Goinnhellir.

This spear is magical in every sense of the word as its perk enables it to extend its reach by using a force field. The spear always seems surrounded by an alluring golden hue, which is what this perk puts to use. It is one of the final pieces of Thor's Armor, which is work seeking out in full.

Gae Bolg

Gae Bolg in Assassin's Creed Valhalla

The Gae Bolg has mythical properties as its perk makes lightning shock your opponent after three consecutive hits. It makes this Spear even more desirable as it not only looks cool but also has an amazing perk that connects to a more mythical landscape.

The one-two punch of the initial damage and lightning shock brings an absurd amount of strength that's tough for even larger foes to recover from. It can be acquired during Wrath of the Druids after you bring Deidre back Amber Shards, which means you must kill all ten of the Druid leaders.

Spear Of Leonidas

Assassin's Creed Valhalla Screenshot Of Spear Of Leonidas

The name Spear Of Leonidas is probably familiar to anyone who has played Assassin's Creed Odyssey. In that game, the spear is broken, and the Eagle Bearer uses the head as their hidden blade.

The Valhalla version of the weapon is the full spear, and you can find it inside a chest within the Isle of Skye. It's one of the best weapons in the game, due, in part, to its strong stun and critical stats. Yet, the best thing about the tool is its incredible perk that boosts your attack, melee damage, ranged damage, and ability damage when you have at least one adrenaline slot filled.
