There are plenty of missions to plow through and the trials only get harder the further you go in. With your skills being pushed to the absolute limit by the final trial. For those that want to test their martial might and prowess as a commander for Chaos then here's a helpful guide on how to beat the Trials of Fate.

How To Access The Trials Of Fate

Total War: Warhammer 3: The Demon Prince Entering The Realm Of Tzeentch

The Trials of Fate are essentially a series of challenge missions where you hold out for as long as you can against an infinite amount of units from a number of different armies. These range from Orcs to Zombies, the Lizardmen, and even the uncountable numbers of Chaos. The missions are part of a free update to Total War: Warhammer 3 and they're found within the Mirror of Madness menu.

They can also be attempted whenever you like and as often as you want, so don't feel pressured into doing them if you're not ready yet. Or are struggling with a particular challenge. There are five missions in total and they're essentially special Quest Battles that take place on iconic sections of the campaign maps.

Each one gives a reward based on your performance and it's reflected in a medal system that goes from Bronze all the way to Platinum. With the Gold tier providing an extra bit of loot for maxing out those points. These powerful trinkets can then be taken into either the Realms of Chaos campaign or the Immortal Empires.

However, they're only available for the Demon Prince character.

Black Fire Pass

Total War: Warhammer 3 - The Introduction Cutscene For The Black Fire Pass Challenge

Your first challenge in the Trial of Fates is a fairly easy one. You face off against the Waahs to end all Waahs as a veritable green tide of angry axe-waving Orcs is coming your way. It's similar to the Empire's Black Pass fight, but with your Tzeentchian team taking the high ground first.

Speaking of the hill, stay there. Your army is small, theirs is not and you're going to need every damage bonus and elevation enhancement possible to hang in there for a long time. Plus, it's also where the Chaos Shard is, and keeping that in your team colors will provide your team with a lot of useful benefits.

Total War: Warhammer 3 - The Armies Of Chaos And The Orcs In Black Fire Pass

Staying up on the slope gives your Pink Horrors and Soul Grinder a good line of sight for their ranged attacks and fighting downhill comes with some extra damage and accuracy benefits for your Chaos-tainted soldiers. The main threat in this fight is going to be Orc Arrow Boyz, so land your Lord and dump as many spells as you possibly can onto them.

You have Chaos Knights, keep them for chasing off the archers. The Orcs clump in too big a mass for a charge to be effective, so use them for harrying range units away.

Total War: Warhammer 3 - A Tornado Of Orcs In The Battle Of Black Fire Pass

After a while Black Orcs, Idols, and other stronger units from the Orc ranks will start to show up. Try to focus these down with damage, whilst using your powerful free Tzeentch spells on infantry blobs that will organically form up on your tight frontlines. You're in for the long haul here, so take as many of them with you as you can.

Rewards

Total War: Warhammer 3 - The Rewards For The First Trials Of Fate Mission

Your rewards for beating Black Fire pass are strong and as your first Trial, they shouldn't be too hard to unlock. Here's what you can look forward to should you emerge victorious.

Arm of Arcane Flame

15,000 points, or a Bronze Medal reward tier. Provides the spell Piercing Bolts of Burning, 100 Barrier Points, and a Melee Defense of eight.

Tentacles of the Wind-Lord

50,000 points, or a Gold Medal tier. Provides the spell Cascading Fire Cloak. The Magma Steam ability, 25 percent extra unit mass, and a Melee Defense of fifteen.

Hel Fenn

Total War: Warhammer 3 - The Demon Prince Appearing In Hel Fenn

Next up on the battle list is the forces of Chaos versus the Vampire Count legions led by Heinrich Kemmler in a title match for the ages. It's arguably a little easier than the previous fight as you'll be facing off against a massive tide of Zombies, Crypt Ghouls, and Skeletons at first but the Undead horrors will get worse as it goes on.

The first lot of Undead lads aren't too tricky to deal with. Just use the same approach as before, big lads with swords forming the blocking line with your range tossing fiends lobbing projectiles from behind. Things will get a little dicey if you don't keep an eye on your Lord as there are waves of Fell Bats that will swamp them. The biggest threats in this fight will be the Grave Gaurd and Vargheists.

Total War: Warhammer 3 - Chaos Warriors Of Tzeentch Fighting Cairn Wraiths

A good tip is to use your Doom Knights to take out Kemmler as quickly as you can. Not having a Lord around won't instantly disintegrate the Undead like it normally would, but it will cause them to crumble faster allowing you to rack up that kill count before you're inevitably overwhelmed.

Undead are weak to fire. So drop as many fire spells on them as you can.

Rewards

Total War: Warhammer 3 - The Rewards For The Second Trials Of Fate Challenge

After sending back those Undead hordes to the shadowy lands of Sylvania you'll be rewarded with the following items for hitting Bronze or Gold tier rewards.

Arm of Flameblade

15,000 points, provides the spell Fireball, the Blue Fire of Chaos ability, and a healthy 100 extra Barrier Points.

Crown of Fate

50,000 point reward that comes with the Flame Storm spell, Giver of Arcane Glory passive, Kindleflame which makes every enemy unit on the battlefield vulnerable to fire, 200 Barrier Points, and 15 points of Winds of Magic reserve.

Fallen Gates

Total War: Warhammer 3 - Armies Of Chaos Fighting The Lizardmen On Ruins

The Fallen Gates are going to provide more of a challenge to commanders. They're guarded by an unstoppable horde of Lizardmen and right off the bat you'll be facing Saurus Warriors. Hardy fighters on their own, there's a lot of these angry boys and you'll need to be dropping those big area of effect spells regularly if you want to slow them down.

Normally your formation is going to be small and close, but you'll want to spread your big armored boys out in a wider circle. Also, stay on the stairs, it's where your capture point is and you're going to need those benefits to last against the lizards.

Total War: Warhammer 3 - Demon Prince Of Tzeentch Creating A Tornado Of Lizards

The biggest annoyance in this fight will be Ripperdactyls, so keep your Lord mobile to stop them from getting swarmed or land them and do a bit of running as the flying units won't follow you down.

Because of how tanky Lizardmen are you're going to need to be very spell heavy.

Rewards

Total War: Warhammer 3 - The Campaign Rewards For The Third Trials Of Fate Challenge

For taking down the dinosaurs you'll be rewarded by the Dark Gods of Chaos with the following items.

Legs of Onslaught

15,000 points and gives the Demonic Onslaught ability. There's also a 12 percent buff to speed and 200 Barrier Points.

Occult Warblade

A two-handed weapon worth a whopping 50,000 points, it comes with the Dampened contact effect and a minus 15 percent miscast chance for your army. There's also a healthy 40 percent boost to Armor Piercing damage and a 60 percent boost to base damage. Pretty deadly in the right hands.

The Tzeentch Spells that are on cooldown, especially Inevitable Fate and Tempest of Blue Flame, are ideal for racking up points very quickly. So upgrade them to their max level to improve their cooldown and use them to clear out your frontlines fast.

Altar of Ultimate Darkness

Total War: Warhammer 3 - The Altar Of Ultimate Darkness Being Introduced

This battle is a bit more interesting and suitably chaotic as you'll be facing off against the huge horned helmeted angry man himself, Archaon The Everchosen. Alongside the iconic arbiter of the Endtimes, you'll be dealing with Forsaken and Marauders at first.

After a while, some Furies and the occasional Manticore will be thrown into the mix to chase after your Lord so keep an eye on them and don't let them stray off too far.

Total War: Warhammer 3 - Forsaken Warriors Fighting Chaos Warriors Of Tzeentch

Your main concern during this battle is the damage Archaon can do, so try to take him out of the picture as soon as you can. The Chaos Warriors and Great Weapon wielders should also be a priority for those big area-of-effect spells as they can wear down your troops if not dealt with quickly.

Rewards

Total War: Warhammer 3 - The Campaign Rewards For The Fourth Trials Of Fate Challenge

For showing Archaon and his cronies who is the top dog in the realms of Chaos you'll get to take home the following trinkets for your efforts.

Serpent's Tail

For Bronze Medal winners you get to enjoy the Prismatic Plurality passive, 100 Barrier Points, and ten extra points to your Winds of Magic reserves.

Honed Occult Warblade

Gold Medal earners get to take home this two-handed weapon. Like the Occult Warblade of the previous mission reward, this sword comes with a tasty selection of bonuses such as the Dampened Contact Effect, 15 extra Winds of Magic reserve points, and a 60 percent boost to Armor Piercing damage alongside a 40 percent increase to base damage. Which is similar to the previous weapon, but slightly flipped, which is very Tzeentchian.

Realm of Tzeentch

Total War: Warhammer 3 - Kairos Fateweaver And A Demon Prince Of Tzeentch

Speaking of, your last trial is against one of the God of Change's favorites, Kairos Fateweaver. This two-headed bird brain is going to give you the mirror match to end all mirror matches. He comes in with some easy-to-kill Marauders and Blue Horrors at first, but close behind them will be waves of Pink Horrors and Chaos Warriors of Tzeentch. So it's going to get tricky pretty quickly.

Your priority in this fight will be holding the ground and maneuvering your cavalry around to deal with the various Horrors before they can saturate your lines with magic bolts.

Total War: Warhammer 3 - Blue And Pink Horrors Stuck In A Tornado Spell

You won't kill them all, but if you harry them with horses it'll keep them in skirmish mode and unable to fire on your troops. The next big threat on the field after them will be the Chosen Of Tzeentch that start to filter in, they're quite sturdy boys that will dent your frontlines substantially if not worn down quickly. A good trick is to hide in one of the circles of trees, this negates a lot of the damage from the horrors, and with the right amount of spell throwing and unit placement, you can hit Platinum pretty easily.

Kairos will charge straight for your Lord from the start. So use this to bait him into a trap with your Halberds and Gaze of Fate Hex.

Rewards

Total War: Warhammer 3 - The Campaign Rewards Of The Fifth Trials Of Fate Challenge

Taking down Tzeentch's top boy will let you take home the following magical items for your Realms of Chaos or Immortal Empires campaigns.

Body of the Sorcerer

This arcane armored suit is your Bronze Medal reward and comes with the spells Burning Head and Flaming Sword of Ruin. It also provides a nice ten percent boost to Spell Resistance and a meaty 500 Barrier Points.

Masterful Occult Warblade

The final reward for Gold Medal earners this honed blade comes with the Dampened Contact Effect, a 50 percent boost to both Armor Piercing damage and base damage, and 100 extra Barrier Points to keep your Daemon Prince safe from blows.

Collecting and equipping a full set also provides additional bonuses for completing the collection. Quite the incentive to go back and Gold Medal each mission.

For wearing the full set you get to enjoy the Paragon of Change passive, Blue Fire of Chaos ability, an extra five points to your Winds of Magic reserve per turn, a 25 percent boost to your armies Barrier Points, a 60 percent discount to upkeep and a 25 percent reduction for recruitment costs for Tzeentch units.
