Dagan Gera is one of Star Wars Jedi: Survivor’s big bads. The one-armed Gera is certainly at a disadvantage in this fight (a long nap will do that to you) but he’s still quite a handful nonetheless. From startlingly far-reaching lunging attacks to completely unblockable plunging attacks, Gera is more than a worthy opponent.

While this can be a tricky battle, once you have a handle on Dagan Gera’s moveset he becomes a far more manageable foe. We’ll outline all his key attacks and the best way to overcome them.

Dagan is all about pressure. He likes to be breathing down your neck, slashing at you with his lightsaber. Whenever you create a little space, he will behave one of two ways. He will occasionally throw his lightsaber at you: this is parryable. However, more often than not, he will only keep his distance for a beat or two before he is on you again, reapplying that pressure.

Dagan has a large number of ways that he will apply pressure and close the distance during this battle. He likes to lunge forward with a parryable, dashing lightsaber attack. This is his longest-ranged attack, as it will take him clear across the arena. He has two additional dashing attacks that are unparryable. However, these attacks don’t have nearly as much range. Both of these attacks start with Gera twisting his upper body around. One of these attacks is a linear, vertical uppercut swing, while the other is a horizontal spinning attack.

The uppercut swing is best avoided by dashing to the side, while the spinning attack is best avoided by dashing away from Dagan. You will know when Dagan is performing the spinning slash, as he will perform a spin once before the slash comes out. There is no spin with the uppercut slash. Additionally, Dagan will occasionally perform a thrusting, stabbing attack. This one is also unblockable but is a little slower and easy to react to.

Dagan will also occasionally use a pouncing attack. This is unblockable and necessitates a roll to the side. He will follow up his unblockable dashing attack with this plunging attack. When he is dashing toward you, prepare for this follow-up attack as it is startlingly quick. While this leaping plunging attack is quite possibly Dagan’s most dangerous attack, it is also the one that leaves him most vulnerable. You can unload an entire combo into him if he misses it. So, make sure you take advantage of that opportunity when you do evade it.

Beyond those lunging attacks, Dagan Gera’s whole schtick is just attacking you with a seemingly endless stream of attacks. Your job here is to focus on that parrying. We need to whittle down his stamina so that we can dish out big damage to a staggered Gera. That is the goal. However, you should absolutely sneak lightsaber attacks in here and there as well. The best place to do this is right after one of his combos.

As for his combos, these are Dagan's most commonly used ones. If Dagan starts with a single downward slash, he will follow with a thrust, a horizontal slash, and then another thrust. You can get a few swings in after that second thrust. A horizontal backhanded slash will be followed by another slash, and then a second backhanded slash. After that second backhanded slash, you can get an attack in. Of course, any time you repel Dagan with a perfect parry, you can get a quick swipe in with your lightsaber as well.

When you need to heal, the best time is after he has missed with that plunging attack. However, in an emergency, you can just beeline it to the other side of the room. He may try to chase you down with one of his dash attacks, but you will have more than enough time to pop a stim before he can get to you.

Keep parrying Dagan, get those hits in, and successfully evade those lunging attacks, and you will eventually do enough damage to force him to retreat. This is another boss fight that emphasizes solid play. As long as you don't overextend, you will defeat Dagan Gera eventually.
