From front to back, this is a three-phase battle. One misstep and it can all be over, which will mean you will need to work your way back through those phases all over again. Thankfully, once you have a better grasp on her repertoire of moves, and the best way to avoid them, you will see that she is definitely overcomable.

The Ninth Sister's First Phase - Strafing Your Way To Victory

Star Wars Jedi Survivor, Ninth Sister lunging attack

In the first phase of the battle, The Ninth Sister is defined by her heavy, overhead slashes, her ornate spinning saber attacks, and her lunging saber thrusts. Thankfully, there is a universal strategy for dealing with these strikes: strafing. Both her overhead slash, and her thrust, are extremely linear. So, if you are constantly strafing during this battle, you are more than likely going to avoid these attacks. It is worth noting that the overhead slash has quite a long animation, making it easy to react to, but the thrust is one of her quickest attacks, which is why it is so important to be constantly strafing.

If you get a little distance from her, she will throw her lightsaber at you. There is a big windup here, and you can absolutely parry it. She also likes to use these spinning saber attacks, where she will twirl her sword in her hand before slashing with it. If she slashes from left to right, it is always a three-slash sequence, if she swings from right to left, it is going to be a single slash. These attacks are all parryable. They are also relatively slow, and you will be able to sneak a few quick attacks in during. It is just a matter of getting used to the timing. She also has a four-slash sequence, which starts from a wide slash that goes from left to right. These slashing attacks are a touch faster,

Star Wars Jedi Survivor, Parrying the Ninth Sister

This phase is all about playing cleanly, parrying consistently, and getting your damage in whenever you stagger her. Consistently strafing during this fight is the other big component, as it will undermine her most dangerous tools. During her slower combos, make sure to sneak a few quick attacks in as well for a little damage.

The Ninth Sister's Second Phase - Playing Mind Games

Star Wars Jedi Survivor, Ninth Sister prediction ability

When the Ninth Sister holds her hand to her head, she is completely unhittable by your lightsaber attacks. However, you are able to use your Force Push to dent her stamina a little. She will occasionally Force Pull you towards her, but this attack doesn’t actually do any damage, and you recover in time to block (or dodge) any attack she may follow up with.

In her Force Prediction stance, her primary attack is a very slow downward swing, which is easily parried. Look to Force Push her, parry her slow overhead attack, and break her posture. Once you do, she will stop using her Force Prediction, and become hittable again.

She will also add a few new attacks to her arsenal. Her saber throw will now be unblockable, but it is a much longer windup animation now, so it is very easy to predict and dodge. She also gets a kick attack. This is easily one of her quickest strikes. But, like her thrusts, it is pretty linear and can be dodged by sidestepping. It can also be parried!

Star Wars Jedi Survivor, Ninth Sister Grab Attack

What can't be parried is her grab attack. If you are up close, and she reaches her hand out, you need to jump or roll away. In this phase, The Ninth Sister will also start using a jumping attack. While this can be pretty intimidating, it is one hundred percent parryable. So, if you see her leap into the air, just get ready for that parry.

The Ninth Sister's Third Phase - Causing Waves

In the Ninth Sister's final form, she will start to use an incredibly powerful attack where she will pound the ground. This is surprisingly quick, and it can kill a healthy Cal in one or two hits (depending on the difficulty, of course). You need to jump the shockwave. If you do get hit by the first wave, hammer that jump button, as another wave is coming your way in short order.

You will probably have your ability to slow down time ready to go at this point. This is the perfect time to make use of it!

Beyond that, she gets the ability to push you away. However, the majority of her moves are just quicker versions of the ones she used during the first two phases. She is more aggressive here, and will apply a great deal of pressure on you. If she puts her lightsaber away, she is going for that ground pound attack, so get ready to jump. Beyond that, keep strafing as you block her attacks, and dish out damage when you break her posture.
