While it isn't entirely impossible to reach the edge of the Minecraft world, it's pretty hard. There are forty-eight biomes in the Overworld, five in the Nether, and one in the End. There's so much to explore.

10 Biomes O' Plenty
Biomes O' Plenty is exactly what it says on the tin — almost sixty new biomes for you to explore, along with new blocks, plants, and trees. Some of the biomes keep it simple, like the Marsh biome. Or you can go on a real adventure to find the mysterious Mystical Grove biome. Enjoy the beautiful colors it adds with rainbow trees, cherry blossom trees, and lavender fields. And when you finish with the Overworld, head into the Nether, where you'll find five spooky and fascinating new biomes.
9 Feywild

Feywild is a world full of magic, secrets, and new biomes to explore. Meet the inhabitants of this new world — the seasonal pixies, the bee knights (guards of the Golden Seelie fields), and The Mandragora (caretaker of your garden). Journey through the season courts, and find the friends and enemies living there. Visit the library to learn more about this mysterious world. You'll lose yourself for ours in this immersive world. But be careful — the Fey can be tricky beings.
8 Oh The Biomes You'll Go
This mod has a Dr. Seuss inspired name, and a very Seuss feeling to go along with it. Oh The Biomes You'll Go contains over eighty new biomes, each with their own unique trees and plants and wildlife. Enjoy mountains and glaciers and forests. Find wood of every color to build your shelter with — or have all the colors with rainbow wood! Make sure your brains are in your head, your feet are in your shoes, and you can go anywhere you choose!
7 Geophilic
While Geophilic doesn't add new mods, it does update the existing ones in subtle, attractive ways. You'll want your best graphics settings on to fully appreciate the new textures and lighting it adds. The mod also adds rocks, fallen trees, moss, tree stumps, bushes, and a few new types of trees. It does its best to stay true to the vanilla game while bringing a new feel to the old game you love.
In a world full of flashy modpacks and giant biomes, sometimes it's nice to return to the simple feeling that originally made Minecraft such an attractive game.
6 Autumnity
This is a must-have mod for people who enjoy the autumn season. Autumnity adds new, autumn-themed biomes, along with new mobs, food, and building blocks. Recreate Thanksgiving dinner with a nice turkey — but make sure you kill it in one shot. They don't take kindly to being injured. Carve Jack o' lanterns with different facial expressions and torch colors to add variety to your collection. Take a break from the usual greenery to enjoy the warm, cozy colors of the trees and plants, and feel the peace of the land. Maybe you'll even make a snail friend!
5 Dungeon Crawl
Adventurers and treasure hunters alike will love this mod. Dungeon Crawl adds large, underground structures which will take you hours to fully explore and loot. The structures housing them are rather small — just simple castle structures, completely unremarkable. You may even be tempted to pass them by. But don't be fooled — you'll be passing up the chance to find treasures beyond your wildest dreams, and the beautiful cave system under the castle. Make sure to grab a backpack mod. You won't want to leave anything behind.
4 Cave Biomes
Tired of nature? Want to spend some time surrounded by rocks? Then try Cave Biomes, where you'll find over twenty-five new caves to explore.
First layer caves (which go down to y29) will mimic the caves of the biomes above them (i.e. caves under desert biomes will have sand in them), while anything below y28 will be completely new ground. Find caves of mushrooms, obsidians, magma, ores of all kind, and more. Just don't forget torches!
3 Terralith
Terralith is a mod that could be its own game. It adds over one-hundred unique biomes, as well as updating vanilla biomes. You'll find new terrain types, caves, and different styles of biomes. You can find something realistic or something fantastical. There's a little bit of everything for everyone! Explore canyons, volcanoes, floating islands, the ocean trenches, and so much more. The cave biomes are similarly overhauled, making for an exciting experience for new and old players alike.
2 BetterNether
Have you ever looked at the Nether and thought, "This could be prettier"? BetterNether explores that premise. It adds new biomes, plants, mobs, materials, structures, and even a rare city here and there. You'll be exploring a world like nothing you've ever seen, with new dangers and wonders. Find new dungeons to explore and creatures to fight, all the while enjoying the nice new view. Just don't get too distracted — it is still the Nether, after all. Something is probably waiting to kill you.
1 BetterEnd
The End is, well... the end. It's a large space with some structures, fields of Endermen, and not much else. It's the final frontier. What do you expect to find? BetterEnd will throw all your expectations out the window. It adds over twenty-four new biomes, new food sources, armor, tools, and colors — so many colors. It's a completely new place with beautiful and mysterious biomes. No more End with endless black skies and nothing but Endermen and the dragon for company. This is new terrain. Go forth and explore.
