Inventory is a hot topic in Minecraft. There's never enough room and it's hard to stay organized. You always just want to pick up one more thing before you go home. Or worse, you forgot something you need at home, which is all the way on the other side of the map. The list of problems goes on.

But for every problem, there's a creative solution. Inventory is a challenge that modders have been happy to tackle through the years, and the results range from simple and practical to silly, but somehow it still works. These are just a few of the best inventory and backpack mods.

Sometimes you just want to see what's in your inventory without stopping to stare at it. Do you have enough cobblestone or do you need more? Did you remember to put dirt in your inventory before you left? Wait, where's your sword? Have all your answers right in front of you with Dmirtylovin's Inventory Hud+.

This mod displays your full inventory in a customisable space above the hotbar, along with armor stats and special effects (such as potions). Never stop to look again - keep running, and get your answers with just a glance.

7 Storage Drawers By Texelsaur

Home storage can be just as tricky as personal inventory - and sometimes more so. Vanilla Chests are great, but they have a space limit and a stack limit, and not all items stack. Buckets of water, for example, take up one slot each in a chest.

The Storage Drawers mod by Texelsaur offers three different options - a box that stores one item, a box that stores two different items, and a box that stores four items. All items can stack in a drawer, and while there are limits to what each box can hold, there are also upgrades to expand space.

6 Iron Chests By ProgWML6 and Alexbegt

Why can't you make metal chests? It's something most players have idly wondered at one point or another. IronChests by ProgWML6 and Alexbegt provides the answer - you can!

Make chests out of iron, gold, diamond, and Obsidian. While they can't be combined with another chest the way wood chests can, they have extra space on their own, and each upgraded chest has more space than the last, with Netherite offering the most space for your items. There are also upgrades that can be applied to wood chests to make them iron, then an upgrade for iron to gold, and so on.

Refined Storage By raoulvdberge is a network storage mod with a lot of customization to offer. The mod introduces its own storage devices, which can be connected to a controller, the central part of your network. You'll need an energy mod, like Mekanism by Bradyaidanc, to power the network, but most energy mods are compatible with it.

You can craft upgrade disks to fit more items in your system, and will have a grid to access the network from wherever you place the grid down.

Ender Chests are an ingenious vanilla chest that allows you to store a select number of items in one chest, then access them from any other Ender Chest you find in the world. Ender Storage 1.8+ by covers1624 expands on that genius.

Color code your chests so you can access certain items from certain chests - for example, put all your cobblestone in a white Ender Chest, then put down another white Ender Chest somewhere else and have immediate access to all of your cobblestone. There are also Ender Liquid Containers, so you don't have to carry around buckets of water or lava. It's incredibly handy.

DarkInventory by GamerPotion is a simple but wonderful mod that ensures you'll never have to worry about remembering to turn on Keep Inventory. It's a little thing that makes life easier and saves you from making the most common mistake - not checking your settings before you start your new world.

2 Inventory Sorting By Kryptonaught

Vanilla Minecraft inventories have no organization capabilities. You just look through the squares and hope for the best. And if you're lucky, your eyes won't skip over what you need five times before you determine that you must not have it on you.

Or you can get Inventory Inventory Sorting by Kryptonaught. This will allow you to keybind sorting options, and there will be a button in the inventory window for automatically sorting it. If you don't want an inventory to be sortable (maybe you have it arranged a certain way for a reason) you can blacklist that inventory, so the button won't appear and keybinds won't work. Never lose your stuff again!

1 Sophisticated Backpacks By P3pp3rF1y

Backpacks are a dream item for any Minecraft adventurer, and Sophisticated Backpacks by P3pp3rF1y is a dream come true. You start by making a basic backpack, then upgrade it with iron, gold, diamond, and obsidian to expand your space.

There are also upgrades which allow you to smelt or cook in the bag, automatically pull items in, and funnel items out. You can also dye your backpack to make it fit your aesthetic. Enemies can often be found wearing bags, and will sometimes drop them with goodies inside.
