As part of trying to fish for stories to publish in the Lucky Clover Gazette in The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom, Link finds his reporter buddy, Penn, down in the Faron region on the trail of some missing White Goats. The local stable’s herd of White Goats has run off, and it’s now up to Link to find both them and the missing animal food recipe from Princess Zelda herself.
You’ll be hot on the trail of these goats is a pathfinding treasure hunt, all in the name of journalism in this “Potential Princess Sightings!” Side Adventure.
This guide contains slight spoilers for Tears of the Kingdom.
Where To Start "White Goats Gone Missing"
To kick off the "White Goats Gone Missing" quest, you'll need to find Penn when you arrive at the Tabantha Bridge Stable, who directs you to the stable's farmhand.
Chork, who's in the goat pen nearby, raises white goats and has tried to make them a recipe for animal feed that was given to him by Princess Zelda herself. He doesn't know where the recipe went to and had to make it on memory, and he solemnly swears that her recipe called for whole, unprocessed Hylian Pine Cones.
The goats, however, did not agree. They ate all the feed except the pinecones and then took off into the nearby trees, where a monster is said to lurk. Since this is Zelda's recipe you're dealing with, Penn decides this is newsworthy and assigns Link to the task as part of the "Potential Princess Sightings!" quest from the Lucky Clover Gazette.
Where To Find The White Goats
When you head off from the stable, you'll pretty immediately notice the trail of Hylian Pine Cones that wind you through the trees to which the farmer directed you.
Whether you collect them or not is up to you, but follow the trail of Hylian Pine Cones left behind by the goats. If you get lost or turned around, you can use Ultrahand to highlight the pinecones.
It's a twisting path, but you'll end up at coordinates -2557, 0413, 0150, which is a rather large tree. There, you find the goats and the bottle containing Zelda's recipe. Interact with the bottle to finish the hunt for the goats.
Once the farmer and his goats head back to the stable, Penn will thank you for your work with a reward concurrent with your progression through the overall "Potential Princess Sightings!" quest, and the quest itself will be marked as complete.
