Quick Links

Just like in the game's predecessor, a large chunk of Tears of the Kingdom's main storyline has link traveling to the four corners of Hyrule and helping the various peoples there with specific, serious problems. Sometimes these are obvious, such as an eternal blizzard or sludge falling from the sky, but sometimes they are a little bit subtler.

Goron City is cursed by a mysterious mineral - marbled rock roast, which seems to curse those who consume it (Goron can eat rocks!) with eternal slothfulness. In addition to this, Yunobo himself has some pretty alarming personality changes that we have to deal with.

Reaching Goron City

Tears of the Kingdom - Yunobo and friends

Goron City, one of the four settlements you must visit to complete Regional Phenomena, is located just to the west of Death Mountain, which is to the north of Hyrule Castle. The temperature here is very high, so you'll need to procure some protective gear or cooling food items to survive.

  • One way to acquire some heat resistance is by getting the Desert Voe Headband from Kara Kara Bazaar. Click here to find out how to get this.
  • For a second level of heat resistance via armor, you'll need to buy some from the secret shop in Gerudo Town. Click here to find out how to get here.
  • Food and elixirs made from heat-resistant ingredients are also great: Chillshrooms and Cool Safflinas are great ingredients.

Once you've reached Goron City, be sure to go activate Marakuguc Shrine, which is on the east side of town.

If you need help completing this shrine's puzzle, click here.

When you're ready to begin the main quest here, head down to the center of town, where you'll find a few Gorons arguing around a large pile of marbled rock roast, which looks somewhat like meat on the bone.

Tears of the Kingdom - Yunobo nameplate

Talk to the Gorons here - you'll learn that Yunobo's personality has changed, and that he's now the president of a mining corp called YunoboCo.

Talk to Bludo after the cutscene, and he'll tell you where YunoboCo is located. Take the path to the north of town, near the shrine, and you'll reach a minecart rail.

Use a Fan attached to a minecart to ride the rail all the way over to the end of the line.

Enter the building ahead of you and be sure to purchase the Flamebreaker Armor inside. You will definitely need this to survive the burning heat of the coming challenges.

Tears of the Kingdom - Talking to Goron children

Head to the nearby quest marker and talk to the two child Gorons here. They'll let you into the cave behind them, where you'll be thrust into a fight.

How To Beat Yunobo

Tears of the Kingdom - Yunobo Fight

Yunobo has only one way to attack you, and is immune from damage normally. He will roll into a ball and speed in place for a few moments, before launching himself at you.

Tears of the Kingdom - Yunobo's rolling attack during the fight

To actually damage Yunobo, you'll have to dodge out of the way of his rolling attack at the last second and make him roll into a wall. This will stun him for a few seconds - this is the only time you can attack him.

Hit him three times after he stuns himself, and the battle will be over.

Tears of the Kingdom - Using Yunobo to destroy marbled rock

Afterwards, Yunobo will join you for the rest of the quest and teach you how to use his rolling attack to destroy marbled rock.

Use this to get out of the cave.

How To Climb Death Mountain

Tears of the Kingdom - Taking the minecart in Goron City to the lower rail

From the cave, head back over the minecart rails you took earlier. This will bring you back to Goron City. Here, use Ultrahand to bring the minecart you just rode in to the lower set of rails. You'll use these to reach the base of Death Mountain.

Tears of the Kingdom - Minecart around the mountain

There are two rails that travel alongside Death Mountain's perimeter - place a cart on the rails closest to the mountain and get in. Now, you'll have to gradually make your way up and around the mountain.

You'll notice that Yunobo will automatically cue up a rolling attack when you're riding a vehicle. You'll have to use this to break the marbled rocks that block your path as you climb the mountain.

You can also use this to attack the enemies you'll encounter on the way.

Tears of the Kingdom - Firing Yunobo at an enemy from the minecart

Halfway up, you'll be stopped in your tracks by a blockage.

Get out of the minecart here, defeat all of the surrounding enemies, remove the blockade, and carry out.

Tears of the Kingdom - The top of Death Mountain

When you reach the top, be sure to activate the shrine underneath the platform you arrive at.

If you need a hand completing Sitsum Shrine, click here.

Climb the steps up to the peak of Death Mountain, and you'll start a cutscene, in which you're introduced to quite a hefty threat.

How To Defeat Moragia

Tears of the Kingdom - Moragia Cutscene

There is no way to combat Moragia conventionally - trying to climb it will damage you, even with Flame Guard armor, and arrows will do nothing.

To actually complete this fight, you'll need to locate the nearby flying machine - it will be tipped over at first. Use Ultrahand to get it ready for launch and then start flying it. You'll basically have to use Yunobo like a rocket launcher as you fly around Moragia's heads, destroying them one by one.

Don't worry too much about the rocks that Moragia spits out - they don't deal much damage.

After destroying Moragia's heads, you'll reveal Death Mountain Chasm, which leads to the depths and the next part of this quest.

Exploring The Depths Under Death Mountain

Tears of the Kingdom - Death Mountain Chasm

After diving down the chasm and landing safely, go activate the nearby Mustis Lightroot to light up your surroundings.

Tears of the Kingdom - Firing Yunobo from a vehicle in the depths

Head further into the depths. You'll find some vehicles around here - while you don't need to use vehicles to traverse this area, they do make using Yunobo as a weapon far easier.

Your aim here is to keep moving westward, climbing the hills as you go, destroying marbled rock blockages with Yunobo's rolling attack.

Tears of the Kingdom - Enemies in the depths under Death Mountain

You'll come across multiple packs of enemies as you travel towards your goal. Defeating them is a good way to get some Zonaite, along with destroying the rocks near them, but be careful.

Getting hit by enemies in the depths will reduce your maximum health until you either reach a Lightroot, head back to the surface, or eat food made with Sundelions.

Tears of the Kingdom - The minecart under Death Mountain

Eventually, you'll get close enough to your goal to see it properly - the Fire Temple. An easy way to get over the lava surrounding it is by using a nearby minecart and riding the rails over.

The rough coordinates of this minecart rail are 1776, 2625, -0843. You'll have to fire Yunobo through some marbled rocks while using this minecart, and be wary of some Horriblins on the way.

Once you've reached the Fire Temple, climb the ramp to be introduced to the next stage of Yunobo's quest.
