After arriving in Rito Village, you'll meet up with Tulin again, who asks for your help in becoming a fully-fledged warrior. Of course, in Tears of the Kingdom, this involves journeying up into the sky, to the Stormwind Ark, a legendary Rito vessel.

Responsible for creating a harsh snowstorm, it's up to you to find out what's causing the flying ship to go haywire and investigate a possible sighting of Princess Zelda. This guide will show you how to access the lock you need to activate to solve the temple's mystery.

Updated May 20, 2023: We've updated this guide to include a video walkthrough of the Wind Temple in Tears of the Kingdom.

How To Complete The Wind Temple

Tears of the Kingdom - Wind Temple - Zonai Pedestal

When you arrive at the Wind Temple, after completing the aerial obstacle course with Tulin, you'll find a large hatch in the centre of the area - this hatch is powered by six devices that you can see dotted around it. Initially, only one of them is active, and you can test this by interacting with the Zonai Pedestal.

Tulin will tell you that you need to unlock the other five devices, which are turbines scattered around the temple. Your task is to reach these locks and use Tulin's Gust ability to activate them.

There are lots of ice blocks to destroy in this dungeon - having a Flame-Emitter Shield that you don't use in combat is a very good idea, as you don't risk it getting broken as you would with a Flame-Emitter weapon.

The First Lock

Tears of the Kingdom - Wind Temple - Activating a lever

Before anything, check out the patch of ice on the right side of the temple - smash this open to reach a small area. Melt the ice on the lever using a Flame-Emitter, and you can access a small room with a chest containing a Zonai Shield. Use Ascend to get back out.

Directly behind the Zonai Pedestal are two gates, each with a lever next to them. One of the levers is broken, the other is intact.

Use Ultrahand to operate the intact lever and enter the room it unlocks. Inside, you'll find a Zonai wielding a Flame-Emitter Spear - this will be very important to pick up if you don't have any other Flame-Emitter gear.

There is also a chest containing an Opal in here, as well as two boxes that contain Arrows.

Tears of the Kingdom - Wind Temple - Attaching an icicle to a lever

Now, you'll need to fix the broken lever opposite the first one. To do this, use Ultrahand to pick up one of the nearby icicles on the ground. Attach this to the broken lever handle, and you'll be able to use the lever normally, again with Ultrahand. Inside, you'll find the first lock. Ask Tulin to use Gust on it, and it'll power up.

The Second Lock

Tears of the Kingdom - Wind Temple - Climbing on the side

Your next goal is reached by heading to the right side of the Wind Temple. Peer over the side of the ark and you should see some ledges that serve as entrances to the inside of the temple - most are blocked at the moment, but some are unlocked.

Tears of the Kingdom - Wind Temple - Finding the window inside

Your goal is at the coordinates -2907, 3018, 1486 (see the picture above for reference). You'll have to glide off the edge of the temple and quickly turn back to reach the hole.

Once inside, beware a handful of Keese. Kill them, and start exploring. The nearby ice block has some Zonai devices inside if you melt it.

To your right as you enter the temple, you'll find a gap - fly over this gap with the help of Tulin's Gust ability and reach the other side. Operate the lever on the other side with Ultrahand to unlock the nearby window, in case you need to come back again.

Tears of the Kingdom - Wind Temple - Fighting a Zonai

Head to the end of this corridor, defeat the Zonai here, and use Ascend to reach the next level up. You'll be in another corridor, at the end of which is a device next to a door and a ladder.

On the way to the device is an alcove containing a chest underneath two slabs. Move the slabs out of the way and open the chest to get a Captain I Reaper.

Tears of the Kingdom - Wind Temple - Rotating device puzzle

To solve this puzzle, find a nearby slab and Attach it to the rod hanging down from the ceiling. Use Ultrahand to rotate this slab, which opens the gate above the ladder. However, once you let go, the slab will spin back around, and the gate closes.

Use Recall on the slab to have it move back in time and use this window of time to enter through the gate.

At the top of the ladder are a Keese and the second lock, which you should get Tulin to activate.

The Third Lock

Tears of the Kingdom - Wind Temple - Laser gauntlet

Head back to the window you just used to reach this puzzle, and instead of hopping over the gap toward the puzzle with the device, glide down to one of the ship's oars. From here, glide to the platform underneath the ship.

Tears of the Kingdom - Wind Temple - Fighting a Zonai near a turbine

There's an enemy and a lock here - deal with them both.

Head back inside the temple by hopping over the gap nearby, and you'll be near the red lasers you might have seen earlier. Destroy the enemy and then carefully get past the lasers with a combination of crouching under and hopping over. The chest at the end of the corridor contains a Ruby.

You can use Ascend to get back to the ship's deck.

The Fourth Lock

Tears of the Kingdom - Wind Temple - Updraft

With these locks activated, head to the centre of the Wind Temple and use the massive updraft to soar into the air using your Paraglider. Glide over to the top of the very large structure to the north.

Tears of the Kingdom - Wind Temple - Opening the tower hatch

Here, use Ultrahand to raise the doors, revealing a laser-filled drop.

Tears of the Kingdom - Wind Temple - Laser gauntlet

Skydive down this tunnel, carefully avoiding the lasers. The tunnel has various alcoves in it - one of them has a chest containing a Solider Blade, and the other one has the fourth lock. Activate it with Tulin's Gust.

To get out, use your Paraglider to ride the updraft.

The Fifth Lock

Tears of the Kingdom - Wind Temple - Icicle barrier

To get this final lock, you'll need to drop off the edge of the Wind Temple and enter through a window in the side again. This time. Your goal is at the coordinates -2811, 2949, 1489 (see the picture above for reference). Navigate here and drop off the edge, gliding back into a frozen window covered in icicles.

You can break the icicles using any weapon, being careful not to get caught on one and take damage, and enter the temple.

Tears of the Kingdom - Wind Temple - Using Recall on a wheel

Defeat the nearby Keese and head toward the revolving wheel of bars to the north. Use Recall on the wheel to reverse its direction, and you'll be able to ride it to the other side. There's a Zonai here - defeat it.

Tears of the Kingdom - Wind Temple - Getting an icicle down from the ceiling

The puzzle here involves the rotating cogs on the wall to your left as you're facing the gate. To solve it, shoot down one of the long icicles hanging from the ceiling.

Tears of the Kingdom - Wind Temple - Cogwheel puzzle

Use Ultrahand to move this icicle between the two sets of cogs, bridging the gap between them. Place it so that when it Attaches, it forcefully rotates the other side.

Once an icicle is placed correctly, the nearby gate will unlock and give you access to the final lock.

Tears of the Kingdom - Wind Temple - Gliding to a nearby boat

To get back to the main deck, glide to the flying boat outside the window and jump on top of it to be launched into the sky. From here, you can just glide on over to the deck.

Interact with the Zonai Device to open the hatch and take on this dungeon's boss, Colgera. Before doing this, you might want to make sure you have a healthy supply of Arrows and Fire Fruit.
