The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom is a masterfully executed game, and the music is no exception to this. The various music tracks, however long or short they may be, fill the game with a life that is unparalleled. Each music track is carefully crafted, and it becomes so apparent when you listen to them separately from the game.

If you played the Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild you may be immediately struck with familiarity from the remixed soundtracks, but the masterful touch to Tears of the Kingdom's music hardly stops there. It's easy for music to melt into the background, but you really should take a moment to immerse yourself in it.

10 The Depths

Link enters The Depths in Tears of the Kingdom.

The Depths are dark and ominous holding lingering secrets and gloom beyond compare. Any monster that exists down there has been so thoroughly contaminated by the Gloom that anything they touch becomes tainted by it. The music for the Depths captures this perfectly, with deep and ominous echoes as soon as you enter this unknown land.

While listening to this track, you could close your eyes and be right at home, with the darkness that seems unyielding stretching on for miles at a time. There may be an occasional note of hope, but that too will soon be consumed by what lurks in the shade.

9 Horse God's Theme

The Horse God's theme is one of the more unique and interesting experiences in Tears of the Kingdom, mixing together both a flute version of the stable song and the Great Fairy song. It gives an indication to the Horse God's ties to horses and stables (with the new introduction of the Malanya bed) and to the Great Fairies.

Although it might take you a minute to locate where the Horse God has set up residence, the music is a pleasant and memorable surprise when you visit.

8 Lookout Landing

the legend of zelda tears of the kingdom zonai spring fused to a knight's shield at lookout landing

Lookout Landing is a notably calm, hopeful, and inquisitive-sounding song, which makes sense given that it exists to research and discover. The people gathered at Lookout Landing, be they Hylian, Zora, Rito, Gerudo, or Goron are there because they want to be.

They're researching the Upheaval and its causes (and the aftermath such as the Zonai ruins and the Depths). But they are also searching for Link and Zelda, still holding hope in their hearts that they will find the missing duo and their inquisitive nature refuses to allow them to stop their work.

7 Lucky Clover Gazette Theme

The Lucky Clover Gazette cheekily mixes in the stable song with a much more inquisitive-sounding melody. It gives homage to what the Lucky Clover Gazette used to be and ties them (and their quests, the Potential Princess Sightings) to what they are now.

As investigative reporters, it's only natural that they would be curious and would do almost anything to satiate that burning curiosity. This song helps the Lucky Clover Gazette to fit snuggly in with the rest of Hyrule while still maintaining a distinctly unique feeling.

6 Great Fairy Fountain

Tears of the Kingdom - The Stable Trotters playing for a great fairy

The Great Fairy Fountain's music is masterfully conducted, though to hear it, in all its magical glory, you'll need to unlock the Great Fairies through the Stable Trotter side quests. Once you've finally managed to do that, though, you can be washed over in the ethereal beauty that is the Great Fairies and their music.

This song is light and enchanting, with soothing, humming undercurrents that you may wish would pick you up and carry you off to whatever wonderful land the Great Fairies hail from.

5 Dragonhead Island

the legend of zelda tears of the kingdom link on the dragonhead island

It might take a bit of work to navigate through the main quest before you reach Dragonhead Island and are able to experience the blissful music there, but it is worth it. For a moment in time on Dragonhead Island you can finally get a sense of true serenity.

And yet, in that serenity, there is still an undeniable sadness and longing that lingers on the edges, brushing up against the tips of your fingers and begging you to help discover the truth of the matter. Dragonhead Island is beautiful but, so, so lonely because you cannot share it with another.

4 Molduga Battle Theme

The legend of zelda tears of the kingdom, Link fighting a Molduga in the Gerudo desert

The Molduga Battle Theme is fast-paced, similar to the fight itself, and reminiscent of its desert setting. This song will be over before you know it and you may end up hunting down more Molduga just to enjoy this fast-paced and energetic music.

Although it has deep repetitive strumming at its core to indicate that this is an intense fight, the music is encouraging during your fight, invigorating you and encouraging you to keep on your path. When all is said and done, you're rewarded with a satisfying conclusion and a few goodies at the end of your fight.

3 Master Kohga's Battle Theme

tears of the kingdom master kohga with two yiga clan members gesturing to him

Master Kohga's Battle theme is unique among other themes in Tears of the Kingdom, blending both electric instruments and acoustic ones to create a fun and upbeat battle song. You can occasionally hear voices in the back, and while they're not saying anything particularly intelligible, it's easy to pretend that it's the Yiga footsoldiers rooting for their boss while he goes up against Link.

Unlike some other battle themes, this one isn't particularly intense and dark, reflecting the lighthearted and almost silly encounters Link has with Master Kohga.

2 Ganondorf's Theme

Ganondorf Yelling With Power Coming Out Of Stone On His Forehead

Ganondorf's theme song is rightly dark, reminiscent of the Depths and the gloom that has begun to creep up throughout Hyrule. It's intense and terrifying, especially compared to the lighthearted music that permeates the rest of Hyrule.

With a heavy drum and whispering in the back of your mind, Ganondorf's theme overwhelms almost every other song, generating a sense of deep unease in the pit of your stomach. Once it picks up, the brief rapid spurts followed by the slow build again give way to Ganon's powerful nature. And yet, in the background, you can hear brief hints to his origins as the former King of the Gerudo.

1 The Main Theme

What better to take the first spot than the main theme of Tears of the Kingdom? It perfectly encapsulates the awe and wonder as you wander through every area, both new and old. It's a wonderfully hopeful song that wraps the game together in a bow of pure fascination.

Yet at the edges lingers the gloom and Ganon, a reminder of what awaits both you and Link at the end of the story. Nonetheless, you probably can't help but feel excited to immerse yourself in the tale of Hyrule and its Upheaval once you hear it.
