Horses have returned in The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom. In this sequel to Breath of the Wild, you will be able to tame and ride horses in order to aid with transportation. Around Hyrule, you will find tons of average-looking horses, with equally-as-average stats, but which ones are the best?

Here, we are going to go over the best horses that you can find in Tears of the Kingdom. This will be based on both appearance and overall stats. It's important to keep in mind that if you have a save file for Breath of the Wild, your horses will carry over; you won't have to find a horse you had again.

6 Ganon's Horse

Transferable From Breath Of The Wild?

Yes

Ganon is huge, so it's only fitting that his horse is equally as massive. With this in mind, it also makes sense that catching this massive black stallion is no easy task; you will need a lot of stamina to wrangle this beast. To find and tame Ganon's horse, head to a little peninsula of land that juts out between Hateno Bay and Deepback Bay. If you manage to tame the horse, you will need to strap in for a long journey, as the Dueling Peaks Stable is the closest one to you.

Ganon's horse will not be obtainable here if you have transferred him in from Breath of the Wild.

In addition to looking impressive, Ganon's horse has some incredible stats. With no Pull or Stamina, you can quickly run across large distances without your horse even breaking a sweat. Keep in mind, this powerful horse is a bit too large for a normal harness, so you won't be able to tow any wagons around with the towing harness.

5 Epona

Transferable From Breath Of The Wild?

Yes

Epona is a classic horse in The Legend of Zelda franchise, serving as the noble steed for Link. This horse first appeared in Ocarina of Time, and has made multiple appearances throughout the series.

You will only be able to obtain Epona with the following Amiibo figures.

  • Twilight Princess Link
  • Super Smash Bros. Link

As such, Epona isn't the most accessible, but if you have one of these Amiibos, the horse makes a great addition to the game.

4 Zelda's White Horse

Transferable From Breath Of The Wild?

Yes

Alongside Ganon's horse, you can also ride on Zelda's white horse. This horse can't be found within Hyrule though; it will only be available if you previously captured the horse in Breath of the Wild. If you did, then Zelda's white horse will automatically appear in your stable.

Thankfully, Zelda's white horse in Breath of the Wild is fairly easy to obtain, as there is an associated quest. While the horse doesn't have the best speed, it has quite a lot of stamina. Oh, and it looks beautiful.

3 Giant White Horse

Transferable From Breath Of The Wild?

No

This is essentially a white version of Ganon's horse mentioned above. Like Ganon's horse, this massive creature requires a lot of stamina to tame. By a lot, we mean around two full wheels stamina. If you don't have enough, be sure to stock up on stamina-increasing food and potions to consume while you are in the taming process.

Thankfully, you won't have to wander aimlessly to find the giant white horse. Instead, you will just need to begin the quest A Picture For Highland Stable, which directs you to the horse's location. For this quest, you will need to take a picture of the horse from a distance.

2 Zelda's Golden Horse

Transferable From Breath Of The Wild?

No

For the most part, the horses we've mentioned look pretty normal. There is nothing too fantastical, but that ends here. One of the most unique-looking horses in the game is Zelda's golden horse.

Like several other horses on our list, there is a quest associated with this shiny stallion. The questline crosses paths with that of Princess Sightings, which deals with the Lucky Clover Gazette. Once you've completed the related quest, the golden horse is yours! As an added bonus, this horse will also earn you the Royal Equipment.

1 Stalhorse

Transferable From Breath Of The Wild?

Yes

Last but not least, we have the Stalhorse. Unlike the other horses on this list, there is more than one Stalhorse. Essentially, it's just a bony version of the common horse that roams Hyrule. Stalhorses appear throughout the Depths, making them difficult to see in the darkness. You may also be able to find a Stalhorse at the Sanidin Park Ruins within the southeast portion of Hyrule Ridge.

Bringing a horse up from the Depths can be done with a custom flying vehicle, but it's important to note that these horses will die when exposed to sunlight. If you do manage to tame and register a Stalhorse, you will only be able to use it during the night.
