The Yiga Clan makes an aggressive comeback in The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom, taking over buildings (and a cave) in Hyrule. Unlike their Breath of the Wild counterparts, the Yiga Clan has become more adept with their disguises in Tears of the Kingdom, and this time, they are determined to take down Link.

That isn't to say that the disguises are good; in some cases, they're hilariously bad, but it's certainly a step in the right direction. Some of their disguises, however, are disturbingly good, and it might surprise you to learn that they're part of the Yiga Clan.

7 Inconspicuous Researchers

Although it's believable that there would be researchers down in the depths, especially after you complete the Camera Works in the Depths quest, the Yiga researchers are just a little bit suspicious. They are seemingly wandering the depths alone and in the pitch black at that.

Instead of working with a crew to explore, they're scattered throughout and tend to be somewhat close to different Yiga settlements or along the path that Master Kohga flees down. Even still, if you've been wandering the depths for a while and long to see the face of another Hylian, you might overlook these logical fallacies in favor of rushing headfirst into a conversation. Unfortunately, you'll also be rushing headfirst into a fight.

6 Totally Fine Travelers

The counterpart to the researchers of the depths, Travelers can be found wandering throughout Hyrule. Interestingly enough, if you pay careful attention to these travelers, you might end up noticing that they're almost exact 1:1 copies of genuine, good NPCs from various parts of Hyrule.

Having stolen their likenesses and utilizing their good reputation with Link, these Yiga Clan members easily slip under the radar, or they do for a moment at least. Once you start talking to them, it becomes obvious pretty quickly that they're part of the Yiga Clan. Something about their disdain for Link just makes their acting so much worse.

5 Free Mighty Bananas

This is probably the most hilarious of all the Yiga Clan disguises, partially because it's not so much a 'disguise' as it is straight-out bait. If you find a random Mighty Banana bunch left on the ground with nothing around that could possibly be a member of the Yiga Clan, you might have just stumbled across one of their traps.

Admittedly, the bait isn't great since the Yiga are notoriously in love with their Mighty Bananas (obsessed, one might even say), but the sheer compulsion to pick up consumables might send you hurdling their way regardless. Even funnier is that one of these bait disguise traps is set up right next to a sign that is warning against picking up random things on the ground.

While you're there, you might as well pick it up, right? After all, you wouldn't want anyone else to get caught in the trap. Plus, you can make use of them in various recipes that you'll eat when you're fighting the Yiga Clan later on.

4 The Beckoning Woman

The Beckoning Woman is found on the cliff by Link in the Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom

At first, this quest seems completely innocent, and there's no possible way that the Yiga could be involved; they might even be the furthest thing from your mind. Of course, you might assume that the woman referred to by the Beckoning Woman is Zelda, but there's nothing overt that says the woman in trouble would be Zelda (at least, not right off the bat).

But as you're slowly pushed into different challenges, your concern will gradually fade and be replaced with annoyance. The beckoning woman's acting skills are certainly one of the best where the Yiga Clan disguises are concerned, but by the time you make it through each challenge, you're almost glad you can beat them up.

3 The Missing Princess Zelda

Depending on how far you are into the game, this disguise could be pretty convincing... well, unless you're working with Penn on the Dueling Peaks Potential Princess Sightings side quest. Then you might not be so convinced, but if you happen to run into Zelda in the wild, wondering just who she is and what's going on, then there's a chance you could fall for it.

Of course, as soon as you talk to her, she breaks the illusion and any trust you might have fostered with her to try and murder you. And to make it worse, they'll make fun of you for falling for it again (even if you were keenly aware that they were a Yiga Clan member). Nonetheless, it's impressive that they were able to mimic Zelda so perfectly in the visual department, though their acting abilities will need to be a bit better before they're truly believable. You also have to applaud the sheer audacity of impersonating the princess all to kill Link.

2 Clairvoyant Cucco

Cucco speaking to Link in Tears of the Kingdom

This is a disguise that might catch quite a few of you off-guard, and admittedly, it's bizarre enough that it sounds like it could probably happen in Hyrule. After all, with the Upheaval, everything has seemed to go into disarray, so why not have an All-Clucking Cucco that can tell your fortune?

Of course, like the Beckoning Woman quest, you have to do some inane trial to prove that you're Link, and once all is said and done, the Yiga make fun of you relentlessly for falling for their Clairvoyant Cucco scheme. That kind of tells you that they thought it was dumb, and it wouldn't really work, but the truth is that it's such a hilariously strange and bad idea that it ended up working just as intended... well, except that Link doesn't die (that part of the plan never works, though).

1 Evermeans... Just Kidding

the legend of zelda tears of the kingdom yiga clan disguised as three trees outside of kakariko village

There's a slight misconception going around that the Evermeans are actually part of the Yiga Clan. This is thanks to a member of the Yiga Clan revealing that they're now disguising themselves as trees to try and catch Link off guard. If you want this tidbit of information, don the Yiga armor set and head into the main hideout.

To make it clear, Evermeans and the Yiga-Tree are two different things, but if you want to prove it to yourself, drop by the bridge leading into Kakariko Village by Dueling Peaks Stable. Just across the bridge, you'll see three trees with no leaves and the ever-infamous Mighty Bananas resting in front of them.

If they hadn't put the Mighty Bananas there, you wouldn't think twice about getting close to or walking past them, but the bananas signify them as our local, not-so-friendly Yiga footsoldiers. When in doubt, look for a Mighty Banana bunch! If you don't see any, then chances are it's probably not a Yiga Clan member. Regardless of if the trees are dead, this is the best disguise the Yiga Clan has managed to pull off.
