There are different types of shrines; some involve building, while others involve working on your combat skills. Some shrines are easy to run through, while others may take a few tries to get down. Here's a list of some of the more difficult shrines in the game.

10 Jiukoum

Unless you're well-versed in engineering, you may find yourself getting quite frustrated with the Jiukoum Shrine. The main requirement of this shrine is to play Jenga with the sheets of metal found throughout the shrine in order to create proper bridges and methods of transportation.

This shrine will first introduce you to the ability to slide on rails, a useful skill that you will definitely need for the rest of the shrine. You have to have a lot of patience with yourself when it comes to this level, as it's easy to mess up your configurations. Of course, if you've given up on trying to figure it out, that's what guides are made for.

9 Ishodag

Shrines serve as great learning tools for many of the features in the game. The Ishodag Shrine, while challenging, is primarily to teach you about how to use fans. Hopefully, if you're able to make it through this shrine you'll be able to use fans for everything.

The trickiest part of this shrine isn't utilizing the fans themselves, but figuring out where exactly to place them in order to do so. This shrine will require you to get crafty with a makeshift raft as well as figure out a way to use the fan to manipulate the shrine itself.

8 Orochium

You may notice that the Orochium shrine has an interesting title attached to it: "Courage to Fall." Similar to many of the other shrines, this is a great hint as to how you will make it through the shrine. As you navigate through the beginning of the shrine, opening doors and trying to avoid lasers, you may start to feel lost.

However, the key to this shrine is doing exactly what you're not supposed to do, and tripping one of the laser traps. Once you do, you'll fall through a trapdoor and the trek through the shrine can truly begin. Just be sure to touch only the correct lasers, though, as the others won't be as helpful.

7 Riogok

When approaching the Riogok shrine, you'll have to be prepared to do some climbing as it's stationed high up on a mountain. Once you enter the shrine, you will have to make good use of Ultrahand to move around the objects available--but be careful, because it's easy to make a mistake and get yourself locked in the shrine.

There is a lot of precise rearranging involved in this shrine, and it may take you some time to figure out which configurations will operate the doors and platforms needed to get you through.

6 Oshozan-u

One of the best ways to find shrines is to speak with NPCs, especially at stables. If you are at Snowfield Stable, you should be able to look up and spot the Oshozan-u Shrine balanced atop the mountains in the north. While you can pinpoint where it is, the journey to the shrine will be a difficult trek through the tundra, so make sure to pack for the trip.

That doesn't mean just food and something cosy, but something that will help you reach the shrine, as it's quite high up. Once you've made it into the shrine, you'll have to get crafty and figure out how to put the given materials together into tools that will help you go through the shrine.

5 Zakusu

While many of the shrines in the game have you completing tasks within them, some require actions outside the shrine. Certain shrines have prerequisite quests that will grant you the ability to then locate or access the shrine. The quests before the Zakusu Shrine will require you to both skydive and snowboard.

If you successfully navigate those Olympian tasks and locate the Zakusu Shrine, you will then be stripped of all of your items upon entry and are provided with very basic weapons. You must then use those weapons to defeat the Contructs in the shrine, as well as employ some of those nimble moves used before entering to navigate through lasers.

4 Sifumim

Similar to Zakusu, the Sifumim shrine will take all of your items once you enter it, and you are only provided with a modest amount of wooden weapons. You must carefully navigate the room, utilizing hiding spots and high advantages in order to battle the Constructs. Be very wary of the Captain Construct, as it will be difficult to defeat with the weapons provided.

You have to think quickly in this shrine and find items in the room that will aid you in defeating your enemies. Once you've found a way to defeat all the Constructs, though, you will be granted exit from the shrine.

3 Igoshon

You will encounter the Igoshon shrine on your way to the Water Temple (one of the more challenging dungeons in the game) and the shrine serves as a warm-up. You have to skillfully travel within the orbs of water that are floating around the shrine in order to move throughout it, which may be difficult as a lot of your moves will be altered by the shrine. Your jumps have you floating, making it hard to correctly position yourself to aim for the orbs.

It isn't as simple as just traveling in the orbs, though, as you'll need to cleverly use a lot of your abilities to change the paths of the orbs in order to direct them where you need to go.

2 Mayachideg

This is another shrine in which all of your items are taken away upon entry, but in the Mayachideg shrine, you are provided basic weapons as well as some Zonai machines. These Zonai will slowly go after their nearest enemy.

It's best to figure out how to get the Zonai to do what you want, because soon enough you find yourself in a room full of Constructs ready to attack. If you can rally them, use the Zonai and other items in the room to your advantage in order to overwhelm the constructs and make it out of the Mayachideg shrine safely.

1 Mayaotaki

Before you are even able to the Mayaotaki shrine, you must first complete the North Lomei Labyrinth. One of the most helpful tips for navigating the maze is right at the entrance on a tablet, telling you there should be a trail of pinecones for you to follow.

The maze to the Mayaotaki shrine is laden with obstacles of ice and gloom, so be sure to have with you the tools necessary to properly navigate those challenges. Once you make it through the maze, you're met with the frozen entrance to the Mayaotaki shrine, which isn't too hard to enter. The trouble is, then, trying to get back out of the maze.
