The Legend of Zelda: Tears of The Kingdom offers you unparalleled freedom. You can go anywhere once you're done with the tutorial section in the first Great Sky Island. However, after completing the initial quests, you'll find yourself with four new map points for the Regional Phenomena questline, which will guide you towards the temples scattered throughout Hyrule.

In Tears of The Kingdom, this main quest will take you through the different temples available in the game, and you will be able to do some phenomenal hand-crafted levels. If you’re wondering which temples provide the most fun, here’s a list of all the Temples in The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom, ranked.

5 Water Temple

The Legend of Zelda: Tears Of The Kingdom Water Temple

The Water Temple used to be a source of water for the Zora, but right now, it’s the source of sludge. If you have less than eight hearts and some normal armor, you will likely get one-shot by enemies in this area. Yet, the Water Temple’s puzzles are a decent upgrade from the Shrines. After completing the 'Sidon of the Zora' quest, you’ll head to the Water Temple.

This temple has a bunch of puzzles that make it fun, many of which involve water and faucets. However, the boss is very underwhelming at the end. Mucktorok, Scourge of the Water Temple has a fearsome appearance, but it’s a very simple fight in itself, without much room for creativity. You’ll receive a Heart Container for winning and the Vow of Sidon, Sage of Water, allowing you to use his shield ability whenever you need it.

4 Wind Temple

The Wind Temple is the very first area you will most likely visit because the game pushes you in its direction. You will arrive at Rito Village and meet some of the characters. After a series of quests, you will venture forth into the Wind Temple. The Wind Temple is a place known as the Stormwind Ark; it’s essentially a huge boat-shaped temple floating above Rito Village. There isn’t much creativity in this temple since it’s the very first challenge. There are five locks on the Stormwind Ark, which you’ll have to open to quell the storm.

There is also a phenomenal boss fight here at the climax of this Temple known as ‘Colgera, Scourge of the Wind Temple.’ This huge icy insect beast will require all the support you can get from Tulin and his gusts of wind. Not only is the boss fight a spectacle, but it’s also got decent rewards, you receive a Heart Container to increase your hearts, and you’ll also get the Vow of Tulin, Sage of Wind, a key item that lets you summon the spirit of Tulin. This Temple might be simple with not too complex of a puzzle structure, but the boss fight is what truly makes it exciting.

3 Lightning Temple

After completing the 'Riju of Gerudo Town' quest, you’ll enter the Lightning Temple. This temple features ample puzzles that are very combat oriented. The Temple will require you to power four batteries to get to the boss of the Lightning Temple, Queen Gibdo, Scourge of the Lightning Temple. This boss is phenomenal; it’s got a terrifying design to it, and playing in combination with Riju is always such a fun experience. It does have a moment where the boss Gibdos starts spawning its minions, so be cautious.

The boss is tough; it hits you for ten hearts each time, so you’ll need to avoid getting hit overall or visit every single shrine you can before you head there. Its minion hives will block light from getting into the Temple, so using Riju’s lightning to take them out is the best route. This boss fight isn’t a big spectacle, but it offers a challenge you wouldn’t find anywhere else in the game. As per custom, you get a Heart Container, along with the Vow of Riju, Sage of Lightning, which grants you that devastating lighting attack as a reward.

2 Fire Temple

Despite being the second Temple you will be pushed towards, the Fire Temple is by far the best mainline Temple in the game. After completing Yunobo of Goron City questline, you’ll need the Flamebreaker-Set and a whole lot of Metal and Zonite weapons to get things rolling. It’s exciting from the onset as you dive right into Death Mountain to gain access to the Fire Temple. The Fire Temple itself is large, with five different floors and a bunch of minecart tracks you’ll use to navigate it. Then the puzzles begin, which are relatively simple albeit made harder due to the terrain and environment.

Then comes the boss fight with the Marbled Gohma. You have Yunobo on your side, and his roll ability will come in handy in destroying the exploding rocks at Gohma’s legs. The eye is the weak spot, so you’ll have to climb up on it and stab it up. In the second phase, it’ll mantle onto the ceiling. Here, you’ll make it fall over using Yunobo’s roll ability and repeat the eye pokes. The boss fight has the same rewards as the Heart Container, along with a lore dump and the Vow of Yunobi, Sage of Fire. The Fire Temple had everything from the other Temples turned up to one hundred percent for even more fun.

1 Spirit Temple

The Legend of Zelda: Tears Of The Kingdom Spirit Temple

The Spirit Temple is actually a secret temple on Dragonhead Island. Hidden in The Depths, you must head to Dragonhead Island after completing the Guidance of Ages Past questline. It’s quite a journey to find this temple; you have to travel through a storm in the Faron Sky. The Spirit Temple is very challenging, and you’ll need a good amount of health and stamina to tackle this one. Not to mention, you’ll need some high-quality weapons, along with upgraded armor and lots of food, because you’ll be building a construct of your own and then using it to take on the rest of the Temple.

The Seized Construct boss fight is everything great about the Legend of Zelda’s new format of unbound freedom, as you can tackle this boss using Mineru’s Construct and customize the battle to your liking. It will be doing the fighting for you, and you’ll just be there to help it win. This temple has a little bit of everything, from the phenomenal boss fight to the lengthy depths section and a whole lot of puzzle-solving. With the amount of difficulty it poses, it’s almost as if this was made by FromSoftware. Yet, it’s by far the best thing that the game offers and also what truly separates it from Breath of the Wild.
