The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom is finally here, bringing many new things to see and do in the Kingdom of Hyrule, some being familiar to what was found in 2017's Breath of the Wild but with new and unique twists on the magical formula that made everything click there.
Shrines are amongst many returning aspects of Tears of the Kingdom, giving you hundreds of different puzzles that you must solve with Link's new abilities to earn powerful gear and upgrades that will help aid you in your journey to find Zelda.
How To Reach Oshozan-u Shrine
The Oshozan-u Shrine is found in the northern section of the Tabantha Tundra region. You can see it north of the Snowfield Stable as it sits high atop an icy cliffside in an isolated, snow-covered field. Due to where it's located, you will need to come prepared to reach this Shrine.
We recommend stocking up on Food or Elixirs that resist the effects of Cold or waiting until you obtain Warm Clothes from the Rito Village until you attempt to make your way to the Oshozan-u Shrine.
Reaching The Oshozan-u Shrine
Additionally, since this Shrine sits atop a high icy peak, you will need a method to get to it. We recommend bringing along a Bundle of Wood, Flint, and a Hylian Pine Cone for this. You will also need to have the Glider, which is granted to you via the Main Questline.
With these items in your possession, you will want to place the Bundle of Wood and Flint beside each other near the icy cliffside, then strike the Flint with a weapon made of Stone or Metal to create a bonfire.
Next, toss a Hylian Pine Cone into the fire to create a vast and powerful updraft, then jump into the updraft and deploy your Glider to take to the skies, allowing you to reach the Shrine. There are likely other methods to get up to the Shrine, but this is the one we found the most useful!
Oshozan-u Shrine (Mallet Smash) Walkthrough
Now that you're in the Oshozan-u Shrine let's go over how to solve each puzzle so you can get your hand on the Treasure Chest and the Light of Blessing. Overall, this Shrine isn't too complex; the most challenging aspect is merely getting to it successfully.
Oshozan-u Shrine First Puzzle Guide
As you first enter the Shrine, activate your Ultrahand ability to see everything you have to work with in the starting room. You will see a Box on the far left wall, a Log, and a Rocket. You will also see a target you must hit with force in the distance, just north of the objects.
To solve this puzzle, grab the Rocket with your Ultrahand and attach it to the box on the wall; make sure the Rocket's tip is facing away from you, with the exhaust of it pointing toward you. Next, take the Log and attach it to the exposed side of the Rocket.
Then, give the Rocket a smack with a weapon to ignite it, launching everything toward the target. If done correctly, the Log you placed on the end will hit the target with tremendous force, opening the next area for you.
Oshozan-u Shrine Treasure Chest Guide
In the next room, you will see a Treasure Chest to the left, sitting atop an elevated platform with seemingly no way to reach it. However, survey the objects you have to work with via your Ultrahand to find two Logs: one small Log and a larger one.
Grab the larger Log with your Ultrahand and bring it back over to where the Treasure Chest is. There will be a small gap on the elevated platform. Place the Log over it horizontally to completely cover this gap.
With the Log in position, use your Ascend ability to pass through the Log and onto the platform where the Treasure Chest is. Crack the Chest open to obtain a Zonite Bow with an Attack potency of 30!
Oshozan-u Shrine Second Puzzle Guide
Staying in the same room as the Treasure Chest, you will have your second and final puzzle to solve in the Shrine. There will also be a rotating wheel next to a target just in front of the objects. Your goal will be to devise a contraption to hit the target with great force.
To do this, stick the small and larger Log together end-to-end with the Ultrahand, creating one long Log. Then, attach the Rocket to either end of the now elongated Log.
From there, stick the Log to the wheel next to the target with the Rocket pointing downward, then smack it as the wheel shifts and brings it toward you. When the Rocket ignites, the wheel will rotate clockwise, and your Log/Rocket will hit the target with tremendous speed and force.
This will open the final gate that leads to the Shrine, so just head on in and obtain your Light of Blessing to complete the Oshozan-u Shrine!
