Unsure of the princess’s motives, Link and his faithful reporter pal, Penn, are on the scene to check it out for the Lucky Clover Gazette. Here’s how to handle The Blocked Well side adventure in Tears of the Kingdom.

This guide contains spoilers for sections of Tears of the Kingdom.

How To Start "The Blocked Well"

As one of the quests for the "Potential Princess Sightings!", this quest is triggered by finding Penn at one of the stables around Hyrule - specifically, Gerudo Canyon Stable.

When you arrive, you'll find Penn speaking to the stable hand about the issue - Zelda has ordered the well to be blocked off. Because the stable has lost its only source of water and mushrooms amid the intense heat and sandstorm from the Upheaval, it's now forced to close.

Penn, ever the brave bird, would go check things out himself, but his wings are too wide - that means it's up to Link to hop into the well and check it out.

You have a tough fight ahead, so use the stable's cooking pot to whip up plenty of meals with helpful effects before you venture in.

Go In Prepared To Fight

When you drop into the well at the stable, things seem in order. However, you'll notice that there's a section of breakable rocks that seal off the rest of the well. Break them to continue investigating.

Inside, you'll find a slew of higher-level enemies, including a Like Like and multiple variants of Lizalfos.

This fight is best handled if you first deal with the Lizalfos, which are moving and extremely aggressive targets, and then handle the Like Like second, as they're stationary on the wall.

Once you defeat the enemies in the main chamber, work your way up toward the opening at the far end of the room, where you'll encounter an Electric Lizalfos.

Not only does this enemy do a good amount of melee damage, it's also electrified, meaning it can and will use electric attacks against you.

It's best to keep your distance and use different fusions on your arrowheads to dispatch the Electric Lizalfos from a distance.

Be careful using metal weaponry to defeat this or electrified enemy, as contact with electricity makes Link drop metal weapons and shields.

Once you've taken out all the enemies in the well, Penn will call down to you. Link is brought back to the surface for a brief wrap-up chat with Penn.

After this, the quest is marked as complete, and you're given the reward for the level of your current progression in the "Potential Princess Sightings!" side adventure.

If you didn't have time to look around before Penn brought you back, go back down into the well after he leaves.

Not only can you grab all the dropped monster parts and weaponry, but in the side-room, there are several types of mushrooms that Link can take to help make some elementally-resistant meals.
