Throughout the many stables in The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom, you may encounter a number of interesting and lucrative quests pertaining to Zelda. The Beast and the Princess is one of these, and it leads you on a path to discover the truth behind one of the many rumors in Hyrule's gossip-mill.
In addition to learning the truth about the magical creature Zelda was said to be riding across Hyrule, you'll get the chance to make some unusual but wholesome friends. They'll not only give you a smile with their adorable faces and gentle natures, but they'll line your wallet with luminous smiles too.
How To Start The Beast And The Princess Quest
This quest is one of many in the "Potential Princess Sightings" hub-quest. To start the hub-quest, you'll need to have spoken to Traysi and Penn at the Lucky Clover Gazette.
With "Potential Princess Sightings" active, venture to New Serenne Stable where you can find Penn standing out to the left of the stable's outer counter. He'll tell you about the rumors of Zelda riding a magical beast in a "subtropical region in the south."
Where To Find The Beast
From New Serenne Stable, you're going to need to do a lot of adventuring.
This quest will require you to venture to a new stable: Lakeside Stable. This is located in Faron Grasslands at Lake Floria.
From the Lakeside Stable (or the shrine behind it), paraglide north across the water to the cliffside opposite of the stable.
On this side, you'll notice several strange, horned creatures grazing calmly in the surrounding brush. A woman is standing under a wooden shelter, and you'll need to talk to her to ask what they are.
After you learn the truth — that they wholesomely followed Zelda around like thousand-pound-puppy-dogs — Penn will appear, speak with you, and give you your reward.
The reward will be based on the number of quests for "Potential Princess Sightings" so far.
Dondons - The Best Friend You Didn't Know You Needed
Dondons are more than just a cute buddy to take some pictures of in your compendium. Their compendium entry will clue you in on their true nature: "Their diet is a mystery."
You can try feeding them apples or cakes, but they just won't bite. What you'll want to feed them are Luminous Stones.
If you feed a Dondon a Luminous Stone, you can return at a later date to find that your friends have processed that stone into a Diamond.
You can find Luminous Stones by:
- Farming caves with ore deposits
- Defeating Luminous Stone Talus
There are five Dondons, and you can feed each of these tanky buddies for a total of five diamonds when you return at a much later date.
