Nintendo has turned many of its most beloved characters into Amiibos over the years, leaving fans to wonder how they work with each major release, and The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom is definitely no exception. Acting much like they did in Breath of the Wild, Amiibo functionality in Tears of the Kingdom rewards collectors with all kinds of loot.

Your Amiibos offer in-game rewards that include everything from Fabrics for your Paraglider, weapons, ingredients, and more. Check out our guide to what each of the 26 Legend of Zelda Amiibos give you in Tears of the Kingdom!

How To Use Amiibos In Tears Of The Kingdom

Before you can begin using your Amiibos in Tears of the Kingdom, you'll need to enable Amiibo functionality in the game.

This can be done in your + Button menu in the System tab by going to the Options menu on the left of your screen. Amiibo functionality is the first option.

If you're playing on a Switch with save data from Breath of the Wild in which you had Amiibo functionality enable, you may find that it's already enabled in Tears of the Kingdom, too.

Once you have Amiibo functionality in Tears of the Kingdom, select the Amiibo option from your skill wheel using the L Button.

You'll then have control of a white circle on the ground, which is where your rewards will drop. Leave space for your loot to fall, or you may lose an item or two. If you see a white flashing X, the space you've selected isn't appropriate for a drop.

Don't spawn too many Amiibo before picking up the loot. Your loot and chests will respawn if too many are on the map at once.

When the location looks good, scan your Amiibo on the right joystick and watch your rewards materialize in Hyrule.

Amiibos can be scanned once per day, but beware that they may not drop their exclusive item the first time.

Keep scanning your Amiibo to continue reaping rewards!

Can I Use Amiibos That Aren't From Zelda?

Technically speaking, nothing is stopping you from scanning any of the hundreds of other Amiibo, but it may not be the best use of your time.

Non-Zelda Amiibos do work in Tears of the Kingdom, but you'll only receive cooking ingredients and assorted materials. The most special rewards are reserved for Amiibos from the series.

That said, if you're short on materials and don't have any Legend of Zelda Amiibo, it is a reliable way to get some free stuff when you're in a pinch!

All Zelda Amiibos And What They Give You

a collection of legend of zelda amiibos from different zelda games for our tears of the kingdom totk amiibo guide amiibo tears of the kingdom

Below, we've broken down each of the 26 Amiibo that work with Tears of the Kingdom, organized by Amiibo collection to help you keep them straight.

The majority of the Amiibos from assorted Zelda collections of major characters throughout series will drop a handful of weapons, treasures, and, most typically, special Paraglider Fabrics exclusive to these Amiibo that you can use to change the appearance of your Paraglider in-game.

Anything denoted in the turquoise writing of Tears of the Kingdom's signature color within the text description on your screen is a feature of that item exclusive to Tears of the Kingdom.

These will often have additional effects on top of the standard attack power, as the weapons you've fused with Zonai technology yourself throughout Tears of the Kingdom often will.

Items that may have Tears of the Kingdom-exclusive features occasionally (but are not guaranteed to have said features each time you use the Amiibo), we'll mark in our tables with an asterisk (*) after the item name.

This means that you may encounter either the standard edition of the item in question or one with Tears of the Kingdom-exclusive bonuses. Always check your item description on-screen if you're ever in doubt.

If you don't get the drop you're looking for, keep scanning Amiibos every day to give yourself a regular windfall of free loot.
