The boss fights in The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom are quite a step up from the previous game's clashes with elemental Ganon avatars. In TOTK, they're against nefarious creatures whose mere presence in the world seems to bring misery to the various peoples of Hyrule.

Within the depths of Death Mountain, near Goron City, the Marbled Gohma lies in wait. After conquering the puzzles of the Fire Temple, you'll be forced to confront this marbled monstrosity. With the help of Yunobo, your Goron pal, the fight will be a cakewalk. Just be sure to prepare accordingly.

Marbled Gohma Overview

Tears of the Kingdom - Marbled Gohma - Start of the fight

As you might expect from how obvious it is, the Marbled Gohma's weak spot is its bulbous eye. This is mostly kept out of reach thanks to the boss's long legs, but you can snipe at it with arrows in a pinch. However, that's not the most efficient use of your time or your arrows.

The Gohma has a few annoying attacks. Its main attack is to spit a trio of boulders at you which will block your view and eventually explode, dealing quite a lot of damage. To deal with this, either run away from them or destroy them, preferably with Yunobo's rolling attack.

In the second phase of the fight, which starts once the Marbled Gohma reaches half health, it will start spitting out entire rings of exploding rocks that surround you. You'll need to climb out of this ring and glide away to get out of the explosion radius. Luckily, it's quite a forgiving countdown to the explosion.

Gohma also has stamping attacks - it will either raise one leg to crush you or jump on all four of them. These create small shockwaves, so you'll need to be on the lookout for this attack if you're at all close to the boss.

Before heading into this fight, you'll want to make sure you have some good weapons fused up. The boss has a lot of health, and you have small windows to damage it, so the higher the damage, the better.

If you have any of the Climbing Armor Set pieces, these can be useful here - the quicker you can climb Gohma's body, the better.

How To Beat Marbled Gohma

The key to beating this boss is Yunobo and his rolling attack. Activate the attack as usual by interacting with Yunobo, and then aim him at one of the Marbled Gohma's legs. A successful hit will destroy one of the Gohma's legs.

Destroy two of the boss's legs, and it will collapse for a while. Use this time to rush at the boss, climb its body, and then smack away at its weak eye with your best melee weapons. After a while, the Gohma's body will shake as it grows new legs - be sure you jump off before this happens, as being shaken off will cause quite a lot of damage to you.

Tears of the Kingdom - Marbled Gohma - Gliding away from the boss

If you jump as it's rising up to attack, you'll get a great amount of air that will let you glide to a safe distance.

The first stage of the fight is very simple. Avoid the Marbled Gohma's attacks while trying your best to aim Yunobo at its legs. Repeat this until you enter the second phase.

Tears of the Kingdom - Marbled Gohma - Gohma's second phase

In the second phase, the Marbled Gohma will spend most of its time on the ceiling. This time, you'll have to aim Yunobo up the curved walls of the arena as you did to start the boss fight in the first place. Thankfully, you only need to destroy one of the boss's legs in this phase to get the Gohma to collapse, ready for some melee action.

Your main priority in the second phase should be to get out of any explosive boulder rings as soon as possible. Then, aim Yunobo at the boss.

Tears of the Kingdom - Marbled Gohma - Using Yunobo's rolling attack

While it may make sense to shoot Yunobo directly up a curved wall, this makes it harder to aim, since you won't be able to see the boss. Instead, aim Yunobo underneath the boss and around the other end of the arena - his rolling attack will last long enough to make this a more reliable strategy.

While this is a pretty long battle as far as bosses go, methodically staying away from the Gohma's attacks and dealing as much damage as possible when you can is the perfect recipe for success.

For winning, you'll obtain a Heart Container, which you should remember to pick up manually, as the game will not reward you with it automatically. Talk to Yunobo after the fight to see a cutscene and finish the quest Yunobo of Goron City. With that done, the Gorons in the city will be back to normal, allowing you to start quests and purchase items normally.
