Warzone 2.0 season three begins today and Activision has outlined some of the big changes you can expect from it. One of the biggest changes coming to Al Mazrah is a tweak to sniper rifles that will allow you to one-hit-down your enemies under the right circumstances. Music to the ears of those who like to fight from a distance, but bad news if you prefer getting up close and personal.

The changes coming in season three have been outlined in a new blog post. “After testing in our Saint Patrick’s Day Event, we are adding One-Hit-Down Snipers to create added variety in combat playstyles,” it reads. Smart to test a weapon change that can alter the course of a game so drastically and clearly it was a hit for the short period snipers could be used to take down opponents with a single bullet.

The popularity of one-hit-down snipers getting a permanent introduction to Warzone is plain to see on Twitter too. Almost every reply I've come across to posts revealing the news or discussing the changes has welcomed the change. It won't be as simple as picking up a sniper and picking off enemies, though.

“Bolt-action snipers equipped with Explosive Ammunition will be able to down enemies with one skill shot.” So make sure you're using explosive ammunition in your sniper rifles to ensure the rival player you can see in your sights doesn't clock your location and return fire. And, you know, also make sure you actually hit them, which if you're anything like me in Warzone and games of that ilk is easier said than done.

The other biggest change that will be ushered in by season three today will attempt to alter the pacing of a Warzone match. The delay time between the circles that continually reduce the size of the battlefield will now be smaller, presumably in an attempt to quicken the pace of a match and force players into close-quarters combat a little sooner. So not all bad news for those of you who hate the idea of being taken out by a sniper with a single bullet.

Whether you can snipe from a distance or your end game will be improved by a quicker pace, season three might be your best chance yet to drink for free thanks to your Warzone prowess. There's a bar in Rome, Italy that will let you drink for free for the duration of your stay if you can get your hands on the game's nuke. An item so elusive, most thought it was a myth until video evidence of someone using it was posted online.
