As everyone is combing through every inch of Hyrule once again, thanks to the release of The Legend Of Zelda: Tears Of The Kingdom, completionists are looking for the best way to do their thing. A vital aspect of some sprawling open-world games is a compendium, and Tears Of The Kingdom is no different.

You’ll have to find and take pictures of hundreds of unique enemies, weapons, ingredients, and much more if you want to complete your compendium. That may sound like it would take weeks, if not months, but you can utilize a few key tips to make the journey easier.

10 Start As Soon As Possible

This is not a joke. If you want to complete the compendium without any tips and tricks that others might consider “cheating,” you should set out to unlock the camera and compendium as quickly as possible.

Starting as soon as possible will allow your compendium to naturally progress as you grow as a player and explore the world. If you start too late, you’ll find yourself having to backtrack all over the place and hunt down lower-level equipment you likely already had on hand at one point.

9 Take Pictures Of Everything You Come Across

Considering pretty much everything you’ll see in the overworld goes into your compendium, you should be taking a shot of everything you can. If you aren’t keen on taking out your camera all the time, you’ll likely have problems filling the compendium in the long run.

This tip is especially crucial if you want to complete the compendium without a guide. There are plenty of unique items and different forms of those items to take pictures of, and if you suddenly stop, you might even miss a few of those special photos you need to finish up.

8 Explore Every Corner Of The World

You’re probably going to be exploring every corner of the world anyway, but just in case, let this serve as a small reminder. You won’t be able to complete the compendium without traveling all over because certain items are mostly unique to different regions.

There are certain creatures that seem to only exist in certain regions, and if you aren’t big on side quests, you may not ever do much exploring in some of those regions. Get out there and see everything that Tears Of The Kingdom has to offer.

7 Let Quests Guide You To New Discoveries

As previously mentioned, side quests can be an easy way to experience completely new things in Tears Of The Kingdom. Some of them can lead you to settlements or areas of note from Breath Of The Wild that you forgot to check, and that will lead you to new compendium entries.

The main quest will take you to a few key regions, but it will be up to you to find those bright red exclamation marks by talking to people and finding out how you can help the people of Hyrule with their slightly smaller problems.

6 Don’t Forget There Are New Enemies In The Depths

A major aspect of the compendium is all the enemy entries. A major tip, in general, is that the different colors of enemies have different entries, but you also shouldn’t forget that there are a ton of brand-new enemies you’ve never experienced before in the depths.

It’s important that you spend a lot of time exploring the creepy underworld because you’ll find a huge variety of enemies and even a handful of boss monsters as well. It may be a bit tougher to find everything, but you’ll be thanking yourself in the long run.

5 Some Things Will Be Easier To Locate In The Sky

While you shouldn’t neglect the depths, you also shouldn’t neglect to explore the sky. Plenty of relatively unique ingredients can be a lot easier to come by while you’re up in the land above Hyrule.

Considering there are tons of unique armor sets to be found just in the sky, it’s worth it to spend some time up there finding a few of those pesky materials you still haven’t put into your compendium. Additionally, it will be easier to find Flux Constructs on those islands up there.

4 Drop Items From Your Inventory

If you weren’t able to start on your compendium as early as you would have liked for whatever reason, it’s important to remember that you can just drop items from your inventory. You’re bound to already have dozens, if not hundreds, of potential entries into the compendium, and it can save you a lot of time to just drop the items.

It may not feel as adventurous to spend a while hanging around a settlement just taking pictures of the items that you’ve strewn about the ground, but whatever works for completionists, right?

3 Don’t Be Afraid To Buy Pictures

If you weren’t aware, you can actually buy all of the compendium entries in the game if you aren’t feeling like an expert explorer. If you follow Robbie’s questline, you’ll eventually unlock the ability to buy whatever photos you need.

With enough money, you can purchase everything, but you can also just use the ability to buy photos as a way to clean up whatever pesky entries you just can’t seem to come across on your adventure. Whichever route you take, buying pictures is definitely a big help.

2 Check Back With Robbie Once You’ve Beaten The Game

You may not feel like waiting to complete absolutely everything else you can before beating the game for the first time, and that’s okay. With a game as huge as Tears Of The Kingdom, it only makes sense that you’d be willing to finish other aspects after completing the main quest.

If you still have a lot of entries left to go after you’ve saved Hyrule, you may be interested to know that Robbie will have access to some additional tougher photos you may have completely missed during your playthrough.

1 Have Fun With It

Yeah, it is a bit silly to remind people to have fun, but completionists can get really into the completing aspect, so much so that they forget to enjoy the experience. Finishing the compendium shouldn’t cause stress; it should just be another part of your adventure.

While you’re going around taking photos, take a few Link selfies, just because. The more fun you have while you’re doing it, the more likely you will be to actually finish it without resorting to buying the entries that you still need.
