Marvel's Spider-Man 2 has a bunch of bad guys, and the latest trailer at this year's PlayStation Showcase has given us a closer look at some newcomers. While the majority of it concentrated on Peter Parker's new symbiote suit, a fight with Kraven, and Miles Morales hunting down Lizard, there was a very brief moment in which we saw another iconic Spider-Man villain that Insomniac Games hasn't mentioned as of yet.

Shortly into the trailer, we see Kraven in the jungle along with a bunch of his cronies. Kraven is hunting down villains as part of his big hunt, and has a fancy tablet full of heroes and villains alike on his radar. Very briefly, we see Wraith show up, the villainous persona of cop turned antihero Yuri Watanabe.

Of course, those who played the original game will know that Yuri and Spider-Man have a bit of a falling out in their pursuit of Hammerhead in the City That Never Sleeps DLC expansion. Hammerhead kills most of Yuri's team during an attempted raid on his base, kicking off Yuri's villain arc and resulting in her killing a man that murdered her therapist. It's after this when Yuri and Spider-Man severe ties, and now looks to have taken on the persona of Wraith in the sequel.

While we haven't seen Wraith herself appear in the actual game, it seems incredibly likely given that every other villain that is noted on Kraven's tablet has appeared either in the first game or in Marvel's Spider-Man: Miles Morales. The first game also sets up the addition of Wraith in the sequel, and her relationship with this iteration of Peter Parker is fairly established at this point, so it makes sense for Insomniac to develop that relationship further in Marvel's Spider-Man 2.

The confirmation of Wraith was just one of the exciting things that Insomniac showcased in its new trailer, as we also got to see a darker Peter Parker in his symbiote suit. We don't yet know how this ties into Venom or what Peter's relationship with the character will be, but it seems clear that our beloved Spidey could be turning to the dark side.

We also got to see some new traversla mechanics, ioncluding a wingsuit for both Peter and Miles, something which Spider-Man fans accurately predicted would be included after seeing a new poster for Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse. We unfortunately didn't get a specific release date for Marvel's Spider-Man 2, but PlayStation did once again confirm that it will launch at some point this Fall. We should hear some more details fairly soon in that case.
