The PlayStation 5 has been out for a couple of years now. While you will be enjoying the enhancements that have been made to gameplay on this current-gen console, you may want to get to grips with the new Control Center or update your profile. Not everyone actually realises you can change certain things on the console and your profile.

You can make changes to the Control Center, Profile image, and cover image. If you are looking to change how your PlayStation 5 looks and are unsure where to start or what you can do, this guide should help with that.

How To Change Your Control Center

PS5 Guide Control Center Hidden Controls

The Control Center is new to the PS5 and is the main hub to make changes and control the console. In the Control Center, you can turn your console off, check your friend list, start a broadcast, and check downloads and uploads. There is more you can do here also, but the great thing about the Control Center is you have control of what is shown there.

So if you do not use half of the options, and you find it cluttered you can add in and take things out depending on your use of them. To do this :

  1. Press the PS button on your controller.
  2. Then press the options buttons which is the button with three lines above it on the controller.
  3. This will bring up the editing options for the control center.

From here you can then see what controls are hidden and your current menu setup. You can then click on an option that you want to add or take out, and you will see the directions in which you can move the icon. You can change the positioning of all the icons and take out the ones you are not using.

Once done just click the PS button to save your changes.

  3. Under Account click Profile.
  4. Then click Profile Picture.

Second Option

  1. On the Home screen, head to your profile image in the top right.
  2. Click it and select Profile.
  3. On Profile, flick across to the pencil on the right and click that.
  4. Go to Profile Image.
PS5 Guide Avatar Selection

Once you have made your way to the Profile Image menu you have two choices: use an Avatar for the picture or your Sony profile image. If you want to use your Avatar but want a different one then you can click back to the menu where you pick Profile image and go down to Avatar. This will then give you all the Avatar options you have available to you.

If you want to use your Sony image, but are not happy with the picture you currently have, you will need to log in to the Sony website to change the image associated with your account.

Update Your Cover Image

The Cover Image shows on your profile when people view it. Changing it or adding one is done by following the same options as above but instead going down to Cover Image.

Your Cover Image can be changed to any screenshot you have saved on your console, so if there is something specific from a game you want, you will need to take a screenshot. You then go into Change Image and select the Screenshot you want to use, then position it how you want.

Change Your Online ID

Sony has now made it possible to change your Online ID. For some, this is something they have wanted for a while, especially if you set the name as a child.

For the first ID change, it is free of charge, so it is best to think of one you definitely want, after the first change it is $7.99 or $3.99 for PS Plus subscribers.

To change the ID, you need to follow the instructions to where you can edit your profile and pick Online ID. Next, this will take you through to the page where you can change the Online ID for your profile, you will need to agree to the Terms Of Service again to make sure your name will adhere to them.
